if people of today call the geto boyz and tupac old school. then deke is old school. the true old school is erik b and rakim, run dmc, doug e fresh, but kids today don't know. young deke was a 4 time defensive player of the year and today he's still waggin the finger!

It was Mutombo for Piatkowski, Wilks and Griffin

that's what i remembered. i recall myself opposing it since i always thought we could really use piatkowski's shooting (a good passer too).

i guess it depends on when you got into hip hop or basketball.

I'm pretty young but if Pac was still alive he would still only be about the same age as Jay-Z (younger actually). I just heard Facemob on a Lil' Keke song the other day and Bushwick Bill is on tv (i don't know why but i saw him on vh1 when i was flipping channels).

Maybe you just look up to the players you grew up watching, i know i favor The Dream more than many of the other big men that people place above him.

i favor the Dream too, but i don't disregard the older players before him because they had to face a much worse society in terms of racism and equality.

they had to pave the wave for today's players to be successful.

geto boyz put houston on the map in the hiphop game!

All of H-town's hip hop success should be accredited to DJ Screw (not that biter Michael Watts  ) and J Prince of Rap-A-Lot records but that might be a little too new school for you tinman.

not to mention his extracuricular activities that funded the label ;)

i might be showing my color a little too much though ;)

I definately respect what guys who came up at a harder time had to deal with but I like to include current and recent history players of all time greats, instead of waiting till their old to give them their props.

well some people somehow think that people back in the day were worse basketball players because of what? they aren't as beefy lookin? same with the rap music. why? you know Ice Cube when he dropped AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted went platinum without a radio hit or an MTV TRL appearance?

if these classics dropped today, they'd rule htown like they did back in the day

I don't have any headphones and i can't turn up the volume but i don't need to. That definately took me back, a time where it matter more to say what you wanted to say and not what will make people dance in the club or what will sound catchy.

I harldly ever pay attention to sales though, it han't said anything about how good a rapper is since Pac died.

I don't think the beef is what makes some new school players better it probably has more to do with having been able to watch the old school guys.
