Even I think McGrady is not the right person to be Captain. He's supposed to lead by example once he gets back on the court.
“I didn't know I was. That's news to me. Wow. I can't remember the last time I was a captain. I guess as far as the captain is concerned, I'm more of the Robin to Shane's Batman.” That's classic.
Please don't trade Shane, he's my favorite player on this team. He's not the type to go after big contracts and dump the team. Sign him to a smaller contract and let him continue to be the cap'n.
I am happy for the Chuck Wagon...I gained an incredible amount of respect and became a huge fan when his face collided with the floor in Denver and saved the ball from going out of bounce which basically helped save that game.
Chuck Hayes & Shane Battier are like 75% of why I am enjoying the Rockets this year. Hayes' stripping the ball on shot attempts, Battier's 1vs4 Blazers on the break and winds up with the steal, its a thing of absolute beauty. I'd rather watch that than fast break offense any day.
Great choices. Scola would have been a good choice, too, but he's not really a vocal leader on the court. This preseason and season, Hayes has become one... Can you imagine Scola, Landry, Andersen with Hayes defensive ability? Same goes with Brooks, Budinger...with Battier's. Would be a long day for the opposing team...
All I wish for my Christmas present from Santa is to make all Rockets grow 3 inches taller. Is that too much to ask for?
Translation for the reading comprehension impaired (like eyeroll-boy above) If your leaders are defensive minded, hustling players who work hard, you can only hope that your offensive minded, defensive deficient players pick up something from them.
Hopefully making Hayes a captain gives him more confidence on the offensive end of the court. He has some offensive game and his passing is good, i believe he can show it on the court.
more than anything - i think the rockets know it will take alot of focus and hustle this year in order to win games. (we're void of some major talents) these two players are the best example of hustle and hard work on the team. morey and adelman want those two to set (and maintain) the tone for the team throughout the year. (even in practices, etc...) and i think chuck and shane will keep this team positive, hustling, learning, growing, and competing in every. single. game. excellent decision by management for this team.
Shane is a natural born captain. I never met the dude, but i can tell by interviews...that he is a captain.
Um....No, T-Mac is the last player on the Rockets I would consider Captain-Esque. He's the most lazy, doesn't play defense, doesn't hustle. Everything T-Mac does is off of pure talent, his cousin Vince is more of a captain and leader then he'll ever be and ever was.
