He is the same age as Landry! It is amazing how intelligent he is. I think he will be a good player in this league for a long time because of it. The great thing for us, is that he will almost always be undervalued in a league of idiot GM's.
But I just wish they could make themselves better on the offensive end. I think that they are good choices as well and definitely "our glue guys" but I am not ready to say that they make everyone around them better. Not yet at least...
I hope these two retire as Rockets and Shane gets some type of assistant coaching position. There are a lot of people that want one if not both to be traded, but the moment they are gone our whole defensive philosophy that was enstilled by JVG and crew will be out the door with them.
I hope T-Mac gets healthy and this year doesn't become a suckfest. It's hard not expecting your team to win every game.
That's bad news, guys! Captain=Curse Every year, one or both team captains go down with a season ending injury.
Following this logic then. the reason we dont have our 3rd banner is because Tmac quit on the team. which is why myself and many others want him gone. And yes, i believe we did better against the lakers without tmac. just like i think we did better against the blazers without tmac. we are a better team without tmac. All that said. he was an amazing player but just not much of a team player and the only captain he was and could be for us is the captain of the titanic. it would be great if he could come back and help us make a run, but realistically i doubt that will happen. flame me for this but i would rather have artest than tmac. at least he was all about the team and has heart. and at the end of the game i would rather have the ball in AB's hands over the recent tmac.
Wesley was captain in 2005-06 and wasn't resigned 2006 off season. Wasn't Francis team captain before he got traded in 2004? I don't remember, because it's been so long.
My heart tells me to wish Shane & Hayes retire as a Rocket. However my mind tells me to trade them asap for young guys (even though Hayes is way younger than I expected). I mean Hayes, Landry and DORSEY are all the same age. LOL
I would say it's more because Chuck is the longest tenured Rocket in uniform. He, Yao and Tracy are the only three left from before Morey took over.
I think I have mentioned that about a hundred times on this board, but no one listens Pops is also the same age as the other three.
Luis is a leader in playing hard but is not a vocal leader. He leads by example. The captain essentially does nothing anyway but Shane and Chuck are the vocal leaders.
Shane and Chuck are the best media guys, the most vocal guys in the locker room and also on the court, and they have the longest tenure other than T-Mac. Makes sense.
I remember Shane saying he would like to retire in Detroit. That might have been a what if not the Rockets type thing though.
They are kind of boring interviews as far as media guys go, which is probably whey they are great media guys from the team's perspective. Ron Artest was generally a very good interview, but I don't think either the coach or the GM would want him speaking as a representative of the team.
People are reaching on the implications here. McGrady can't be a captain when his attendence at games is in question. When he returns from his injury, the Rockets might make him a captain at that point. There's no reason to think the captaincy is going to protect anyone from trade, or imply a trade is coming. The Rockets apparently think so little of the office, they didn't bother to tell their captains that they were captains.
