Sources tell the New Orleans Times-Picayune that the team "appears ready to match any offer Gordon might receive on the open market, even if it means extending him a maximum-money contract of five years worth $80 million." It doesn't sound like Gordon is going anywhere

I could see them trading him for the right price. Gordon is already an RFA and is older and farther along in his development than Davis. If they could get multiple top ten picks to develop alongside Davis I could see them considering that.

I would love to see Gordon on this team i think he and dragic would connect instantly on the court, And if we get Dwight that would be SICK and would make use contenders to do some damage in the playoffs maybe even win a title.

Sounds like smoke from the Rockets camp to me. After the Marc Gasol plan fell through last year, I wouldn't expect a different outcome.

Us trying to acquire Eric Gordon instead of Deron Williams seems to me IMHO that Morey is settling for less... I do hope we turn our attention back to Deron Williams because that's the only possible way Dwight Howard possibly considers staying in Houston.

The league no longer owns the team. The NBA board of govenors approved the sale of the Hornets to Tom Bendon a couple of weeks ago.

As far as signing Gordon, I would love to have him but I don't see any way to prevent the Hornets from matching.

    This.

I'd love to see how we choose to move Martin, Lowry, and Scola.

I don't think the sale has closed yet.

That means that, while Benson would certainly need to approve any trade during this executory phase of the sale, so would David Stern (as defacto owner). Deals fall apart at the 11th hour all the time. Stern won't make a trade that, in his mind, hurts the franchise's value--even if Benson consents--until the sale CLOSES.

I'd love Offering Gordon the the Max just to stick it to Stern and his pet franchise. Make them match the offer and tighten up their cap space a bit.

i agree with finding a way to screw over stern, but why in the hell would be offer the max to a guy who seems to have a reoccuring problem with his knees? I like Eric Gordon. He's supremely talented. But that talent really comes from his freakish athletic ability. I worry that will lessen dramatically as the injuries pile up. He's NOT worth the max. He's $10 mil per tops!

between Dwight's back and Gordon's knees, the Houston medical staff better get this right. This whole approach seems very risky; on many levels.

but then again ...we are finally heading is a direction. Maybe not a sustainable one, but it's certainly a direction.

We'd lock up our own ability to do anything in FA while we waited for NO to match.

Injuries or no injuries you have to roll the dice. On any body that has past injuries.

I think the rockets real best shot at a trade is Josh Smith or trading up in the first round. Of those two options, I think trading up is more preferable.

The sale of the Hornets has been final since June 15. The NBA doesn't own them anymore.

I think it did close actually. I'm sure I remember seeing the story that it was officially closed.
