afraid of what? just say to tracy, go through 4-5 practices hard and consistently go off your left knee and we'll have all the coaches here to judge if you're ready or not.

is that so hard to do?

I think his teammates and coaches said those things to boost his confidence. As mentally weak as TMac is, can you imagine what he will do if they say they can pass the first round and go further without TMAC?

Apparently it is impossible to do...

    :D

I think Adelman and company have handled this as poorly as TMac has himself.

    It is one giant cluster....fark.

I feel the same way. I just cant stand listening to their "oh pity us without Tmac we suxx and you shouldnt expect anything good" BS. To be fair, the players have done well without Tmac but the moment he comes back YOU KNOW Adelman is gonna insert him in the starting lineup and screw their good vibes as he has done time and time again.

Is that the way to run a basketball team? To reward mediocrity or play people on the basis of who gets payed the most? No wonder there is low morale!

Ok ok Ill calm down now. ;)

Tmac1, I love that you use Tracy "struggling mentally" as an excuse.

The bottom line is that a proper rehabilitation over the summer more than likely would have eliminated most of these problems. He chose not to, despite being paid over $20mm, and now we have to suffer the consequences.

There is going to be knee pain. Play through it if the knee is structurally sound, which is what multiple doctors have stated after looking at MRI's (second opinion? maybe 5th). Show some heart.

Don't QUIT like you did in the Toronto game this season.

The dude is weak mentally. Most athletes have knee surgeries (Oh yeah, this was MINOR surgery) and have some worries about the injury...but I can't recall a player sitting down as often as TMac does.

    You can't teach heart

I wish I could read their minds. Maybe in their head they are actually super happy when Tmac sits out. Im sure even very nice people would be pretty annoyed with the situation by now.

but adelman is the COACH. he has the final say. but b/c he's a player's coach, he allows the plaeyrs to make the decisions i guess, as in the case of artest's injury also.

adelman should have put the foot down and said: we don't need an injured tracy. until you're healthy sit out.

I agree......the team would have a lot more wins if they had sat Tracy...there is still time to sit him and make a run.

This team is good enough without him....they don't need Tmac.....

That's simply because Adelman is too laid back of a coach, if this was JVG or Avery Johnson coaching the team, they probably would have said let's sit out T-mac for the season. That's just simply the difference a coach's personality can make.

Agreed. I think Tmac should play for JGD or Pop that type of coach.

JVG had the guts to sit down tracy when he didn't put in effort in several games. and only tracy.

and let's be real, tracy is not a marbury. tracy actually wants to play, but he also wants to play well.

    yes.

and i only want to play when i feel like i can "play well" and score 20+ pts or 10 assists. otherwise i am gonna sit. it's too much of my reputation out there, you know.

    DING DING DING !!!

TMac has always been more in love with being Tmac than winning games...at least that is how it looks to me.

It shouldn't be his decision to sit out simply because he doesn't like how well he's playing. That's totally unprofessional. Imagine if Luis Scola or Shane Battier or, hell, Yao Ming just decided to take off games because they didn't like how they were playing. It would be unthinkable.

If McGrady can play, and if the Rockets doctors say he can play, then he should play. If the Rockets feel he isn't playing at an acceptable level, then it's on them to curtail his minutes or keep him out. He just needs to do the best he can.

I don't think he care his stats that much. But, I do think Tmac doesn't want to be a negative factor for the team.

As someone has mentioned, Adelman should have let him come off the bench after he came back from the surgery.

You can't blame this on adelman,He came into training camp out of physical shape and basketball shape. Adelman didn't tell him to sit and lay up during the off season.

Adelman's stance from jump was to let tracy play himself into shape. Kobe didn't coem off the bench when he had the same surgery a few seasons ago he played his way into shape.
