Martin is def on the way out in this scenario. It makes total sense for Atlanta.

Joe Johnson is an upgrade over Martin esp on D.

I'm ok with this move alone bc we could always go after a player like Jefferson later.

Just an FYI via Chris Broussard, NY is taking the same approach with JJ, going after him first and then with him in tow, going after Lebron. Interesting. I am not sure what to believe. Like DD said, perhaps it is some smokescreen?

Not really worried about Joe Johnson declining. He's never exactly been an extraordinary athlete. It's his size, shooting, ball-handling/playmaking skills, and basketball IQ that makes him a special player. Those things won't go away. Sure, in five years he won't be able to guard point guards like he can now, but we'd have won 4 championships by then anyway ;)

Lowry (S&T), Hill, Trevor, picks and Jeffries for Johnson & Bibby works, though it would leave us without a lot of depth assuming Bud and Battier go in a Bosh trade.

    Brooks/Bibby
    Martin/Taylor
    Johnson/MLE
    Bosh/Scola
    Yao/Hayes/Patterson

Maybe we can bring Wafer back...

I wonder if our sudden interest in Johnson increased due to Johnsons sudden interest in NY and our vested interest in NY NOT obtaining good players.

Smoke screen. I wouldn't be surprised if Morey specifically briefed every Rockets employee to tell the outside world what he wanted us and other teams to hear, and then have secret plans to do something completely different.

this wont work . JJ calls Bosh and says "hey Houston offering me more money than anyone in a sign and trade"....Bosh "so what Im in south beach with wade"

JJ goes to bulls to play with lebron lebron>rockets sorry.

Not a big JJ fan, Atlanta seemed worse when he'd dominate the ball. In the regular season when possessions are plentiful, Atlanta wasn't hurt too bad by JJ clogging up the offense, but the playoffs exposes that sort of thing.

heres the smokescreen. jj is better friends with amare than bosh. maybe the rockets already know we are out of the running for bosh(i hope they do,everyone else knows so why should morey be the last to know)

so to get amares attention,we get his friend jj. but, they both want dantoni ny,

the only hope, for the 10th time, bosh is guaranteed miami, lebron bulls,jj goes to bulls, then amare is sitting there going "oh sheit, ive run out of teams"

then he accepts sign and trade with rockets. thats the only way this offseason get work.otherwise stand pat or get granger or al jefferson

JJ wants max. JJ not worth max. JJ not coming to Houston.

This article is just smoke coming out of the writer's ass.

I don't want Johnson!!!! Guy is not worth the max nor is he any better than Kevin Martin for this team. We need Martin and his ability to draw fouls!

Smokescreen to get NYK to overpay for Johnson all the while crippling their franchise indefinitely while we reap the rewards from the picks?

Morey can be a cruel cruel man sometimes.

You also said "i got some inside info, the rockets are only going to pay the tax for 2 players bosh/amare".

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=5390303&postcount=1

Only Bosh and Amare, huh? Looks like your inside info wasn't too good. Who knows maybe they'd go over the tax threshold for Lebron, Wade or Dirk too.
