It's possible to get Johnson without losing Martin. I suspect the Rockets to be one of few teams willing to offer Joe the max, so we do have that advantage.

I just dunno about this. JJ really disappointed me in the playoffs.
Makes me wonder if he don't have a T-Heart

Between him and bosh . . . I think the team maybe more talented
    but
we might lose alot of heart, grit and determination

Hate to ask the Debbie Downer question, why would Joe be appealing to get Bosh here, nothing against him but all he's done is get 2nd round exits, if they want a good guard, why not D-Wade, at least he lead his team to a finals win. I do know that the chance of D-Wade signing with any team besides the Heat is very low, why not at least try.

Ehh not sure I want Johnson as a Rocket especially if he commands the max because he is certainly not a max player and seems on the decline. I like the boldness of Morey but Johnson is risky.

JJ will be 29 in 2 days and JJ's game (not very efficient, doesn't get to the line, quit on his team, and bashed fans) isn't really desired by morey...so this rumor doesn't really jive with how morey operates.

and I agree that the rocket probably throw out a ton of disnformation to keep other gm's off guard.

Maybe this is like an intentional leak where Morey and company toss it out there to get Bosh's attention?

If they are going to go after Bosh and Johnson, why not Bosh and James???

Well said. It will cost us too much and handicap us for years.

This confirms what that poster from a competing board said: Rockets are gunning for Johnson as well.

That would be one way to convince Bosh, to wit: pair him with an allstar like Johnson. My question: what's wrong with one of the most efficient players in the league, Martin? Martin is no chopped liver, Bosh should be happy to be paired up with Martin.

I feel like JJ is clearly a better player than Martin. Is he a better fit, though? I'm not too sure. He needs the ball in his hands to be effective, but doing that would relegate Brooks to a catch and shoot kind of player. If we get JJ, should we start Lowry and bring Brooks off the bench as a scorer?

Hey at least Morey is giving us something to talk about even if these are longshots and/or just conjectures leaked from him and his staff to keep the buzz going.

I think so as well. There are trying their best to get him here. I will be really upset if a declining and aging Johnson is traded for. He can pass and is a better defender than Martin, but Kevin is younger and he won't break the bank.

I hope we keep KM. He isn't over priced and performs at a high level.

That's just me I guess. I hate the fact that we are after big name players instead of creating a good very deep team

I don't think J.Johnson is worth the Max contract he's looking for...

But I guess we could trade our current back court(Brooks and Martin) to Atlanta for J.Johnson(via sign & trade) and Jeff Teague...

It would allow us to re-up Lowry for cheap by offering him the starting gig..

Then trade Hill, Battier, Jeffries & NY pick 2012 for Chris Bosh (via sign & trade)
    ....

    Lowry | Teague
    Johnson | Budinger | Taylor
    Ariza | Patterson
    Bosh | Scola | Hayes
    Yao | Haywood(FA)| Andersen

    (Just speculation ;) )

Joe Johnson is 6'8, he could play SF and be an upgrade offensively over Ariza.

Johnson is better than Martin, but not by much, and he will probably be overpaid. That said, if it brings Bosh, who the heck cares?

    Aaron Brooks
    Joe Johnson
    Trevor Ariza
    Chris Bosh
    Yao Ming

Sorry Atlanta, you can't have KMart. JJ will be our new SF. But we have a nice parting gift for you of Trevor Ariza and Shane Battier.
