I've heard several sports reporters and radio personalities say that once a coach that has a lot of discipline over the team leaves and is replaced by someone that is less strict the first coaches style will stick for a year or so and then you will start to see a reflection of the new coach. Seems like this is what is happening to me. They were still good last year, but not as good as when JVG was here and have fallen off even more this season.

    They have no defensive intensity.

Yes Hayes, but if management does not hold them accountable for the changes, then nothing really happens.

That means sometimes firing talented performers who are cancers in my line of work for better team players.

The same principals apply in basketball.....

Based on Rafer's comment I would have to agree with you. Rafer said the following: "It gets away when you don’t practice and drill things. You lose sight of how you want to defend.” Are they not practicing their defense? That explains a lot.

Not really. Giving away a more talented Jim Jackson for the team-player in David Wesley is one good example of your point. However, the talent disparity between Jim Jackson and Wesley isn't 1/10th of whatever it would be for whoever we could get for McGrady or Artest at this point. Losing that much talent will only make us worse. Sure you need team ball to go deep, but you also need the talent behind that team concept. Boston, Lakers, "Team Ball Pistons" all had loads of talent. Without Tmac/Artest, this team doesn't have the talent to win a first round playoff series.

I think the meeting is a positive and should help the players get specific issues of their back. "The meeting" helped us last year what's there to say it wont help us this year

iIt doesn't take a genius to see amid all the complaints about offense, the defense has struggle big time. I asked before, when was the last time the rox held a team to 40%? They're giving up 97 ppg over the last 10. Its hard to win consistently like that.

Why wasn't all this addressed in the preseason, here we are halfway through the season and these guys act like fish out of water.

So is this the start of a traditional mid-season intervention? next time they should have guest speakers like the Dream or something cause this is getting depressing.

Why isn't Deke playing? They have nobody out there blocking shots or grabbing rebounds. Other teams are just going straight to the hoop with no fear. Put Deke out there so he can throw them bows.Make them think twice before coming into the paint. NOT IN MY HOUSE.

Well they already had "the meeting" earlier. Here is another one. Hopefully we see good results.

"It gets away when you don’t practice and drill things. You lose sight of how you want to defend.”

That is exactly what was reported during training camp during the summer. I kept reading about the Rockets practicing the offense over and over, but heard nothing about defense. Then Adelman admits in an article that they didn't practice much defense b/c they were trying to get everyone to learn the offense. That was a red flag from the start.
