I've got a feelin that Lowry will start for our team next year.....who knows, maybe we'll pick a PG/SG in the draft...Avery Bradley? can't really predict morey..
He may be statistically. But I believe Kidd & Rondo would be the best in rebounding when their teams need them to.
That is a sign of underrating. Scoring is the most overrated thing in NBA. Look at Lowry's +/- and see how hustle, heart, defense, ability to run the team effect the game.
Go back and check out the Philly game when he got hurt. It was night and day how the team played when he was on the floor and off the floor. Yes, he is that important. Spark off the bench is important.
You forgot one thing. Fouls drawn while going to the basket is not counted here. Lowry got a lot more FTs than AB per shot around the basket. That means Lowry is the better finisher under the basket.
Again, I think that's more because of how hard he plays and how much he hustles than any particular skill, and I strongly believe that number would go down if he had a starter's minutes. I admire Lowry's "go-get-em" attitude and I love the way he approaches the game, but I just don't believe he is physically capable of playing the way he does for 35-40 minutes. Also, it's worth noting that while he may be one of the best rebounding PGs, that's not really saying much. The best rebounding PG still only grabs maybe 3-4 more boards than the worst one. It's a small edge, but even if you buy that he could consistently rebound as well with starter minutes, I don't think a few more possessions makes up for huge loss in offensive efficiency.
Reading. Comprehension. I already stated that Lowry is exceptional at drawing fouls. That doesn't make him a better finisher. It makes him better at drawing fouls.
Everybody was blaming Ariza when we we had bad games earlier, saying only 2 offensive players in the starting lineup were the problem. Guess what? Now we have 3 real good scorers, but we are doing much worse. Scoring is overrated, defense is just as important as offense. Guys like Lowry and Ariza can make the team more balanced once Yao comes back.
Come on, if Lowry isn't get fouled, he'd finish those layups, that make him a better finisher. Any way, Lowry is the more efficient player around basket than AB.
And I guess the chard is not correct. If you adds up all the shots made then divided by the shots attempted by AB, that would be over 0.500, which is obviously not the case.
Kyle Lowry is an important part of the offense as much as the defense. His presence on the court is extremely important for the team. He is a blue collar player and he must be resign with the team.
This board needs to get over the Brooks/Lowry debate. They're both good overall point guards, it doesn't matter who the starter is.
Our record without him is no coincidence. He's a good player and somebody that's key to our success going forward. That said, I can't blame him for wanting what's best for himself. If you look around the league you can spot anywhere from 5-9 teams (by my count) that have PG's that he would be an upgrade over. You can't make whether or not he starts a part of the contract negotiations. That's not fair to Adelman nor is it prudent to do so from a leverage standpoint. That said, I am not opposed to the idea of him starting and moving Brooks to a Jason Terry type role off the bench. I know this idea has been tossed around and argued to death on him, but I'm definitely curious to see if Adelman and/or management even consider this idea a realistic option. If they don't and Lowry insists on pursuing a starting role, we could end up in some hot water by losing the two best players from our seemingly dynamite second unit that had partially carried us up to this point. Needless to say, that would be a tough pill to swallow.
I will say this Kyle Lowry is one of the best backup PG in the NBA. He has enough talent to be a starter for other teams. I say lets just value that we have them both on the team.
