Actually I am thanking God that TMac is a Rocket, and praying that Charlie Ward can still do something good on the court.
And I have faith that we will get a decent backup center.

Anyways just the observation that well meaning Christians around the world have so very many differences of opinion says something about personal choices and God's determination and execution of His plans. :) ;) :D

I completely agree with you. What I am saying is that once God pushes us in one direction or another, we have the choice to choose the way God wants or the other way. If God calls us to do one thing, but we do another, then bad things can happen. Hence the free will thing.

God may have wanted this trade to happen, but that doesn't mean he made it happen. It's just like you said, He pushed someone towards a certain decision and they chose it.

I think we are saying the same thing, just in different words.

And I wasn't dissing his beliefs, I just think that sometimes it is not necessarily God that directly affects who is on a basketball team. I think He can have a part in it, but in the end CD has the free will to choose whoever he wants.

Totally. Well said. Sometimes we just think differently about certain Theological aspects but are definitely after the same goal. And there is no way that we can know what ways God is speaking to others.

This states that Sura's contract is 4 years long, but the 4th year is quite possibly a team-option. So since it says that Ward's deal is for 3 years, I would bet that it's really just a 2 year deal with a 3rd year team-option.

Sure why not. He got Tmac in Houston, Shaq in Miami and Boozer in Utah. Take a wild guess who was on the other end of those trades.

Will, you should know better than to bring that up in GARM. You want to get a GARM thread moved to D&D?

Anyway, now that we know the lengths and approximate values, I'm not very happy. If they were going to cost that much, I'd rather have gotten James or Jones. Richard Justice tried to curb that argument by pointing out all the experience we get with these two, but I'm not buying it. Damon Jones is no rookie and he's just flat-out better.

This discussion reminds me of the warriors? commercials where they have a guy hit by lightning inside a golf shop while watching other guys play in a lightning storm outside and shaking his head. The dude inside was wearing another basketball teams logo on his shirt. A commentator says "God is a warriors fan" or something like that :D

Those are Fox Sports Net commercials. I noticed that on league pass you would often see the same style of commercial for whatever the local braodcast was.

Here's my contribution to the derailment of the thread:

They used to say that the "hole" in Texas Stadium's roof was for God to watch the Cowboys. ;)

Of course not, only Satan could have taken Cat away. God would have been nice enough to give us Kobe for the minimum and TMAC for Stevie straight up. But lucky for everyone else in the league God doesn't seem to playing favorites, at least in the NBA.

i thank God for having access to a computer, general good health, and that i'm not in the middle of a genocidal civil war in sub-Sahara Africa, where my mother, daughter, or myself have been abducted and fed to soldiers as post-massacre entertainment

    go Rockets!

I too am concerned with Ward as our projected point guard. What exactly happened in SA where he couldn't even get off the bench? Still, if he's the player he was in NY just weeks before he landed in SA then it should be ok given he otherwise fulfills the role required. I imagine Lue and Sura will end up seeing as many if not more minutes at PG when all is said and done.

This trade leaves us with a pretty strong bench (considering a decent backup center is found). Poor Boki may NEVER get off the bench; and Gaines? He can forget any thoughts of playing time less he has improved light years over last season.

All-in-all, I can't wait to get started. We have a really cool team that could swing wildly in terms of wins and losses. The only thing boring about next season will be whatever JVG can make it in to.

Hey, it's all about roster moves. We're just not sure Who's making them.
