I think our only hope is that Yao becomes the offensive focus, and Steve and Cat defer to him. It is clear that Yao is already the most sound basketball player on the Rockets. DaDakota
Yao is trying to say that games against the Grizzlies and Clippers can be harder than games against the Kings, because they don't exactly inspire the Rockets to play hard. They fall into the "easy win" trap, and end up playing down, and losing.
Interesting...I took two years of Chinese (Mandarin) at UT Austin; have partially-watched the "Joy Luck Club" twice; have fully-watched "Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon" (which pales in comparison to "Legends of the Condor Heroes," original version); and on special weekends, play some embarassing games of mah-jong. Here is my interepretation of Colin Pine's interpretation of Yao Ming's interpretation of what happened the last two games: It's difficult for the Jason Williams haters to admit they're wrong -- it's easier to continue down the road of denial. "Sometimes the hardest challenges are easier than the more difficult ones," Pine said Yao said. "When you face more difficult challenges, there is the possibility to fail." Gosh, sounds sort of like Confucius. Or maybe just confusion. By DALE ROBERTSON
Talk is talk. I am sure they are veteran and good at it. But their act says different things. SF is trying to hold onto being franchise player. But if he really gets into Rox/Yao's way, he will be next to the exit door.
You should look at my statement that you quoted. I said that I DON'T think that they don't believe in Ming.
This is how read it after watching last two games. "Make things easier" or "Make my life easier" means that I jack up all the shots, and Ming go grab rebounds if it misess, kick it out, and I do it again. I wonder if they are selfish, or dumb, maybe both.
I haven't been on the boards lately but I have to ask my self, "wow is this what the boards are turning into". Boy I can't believe some of you, every team (esp young ones) suffer let downs, and some of them don't even win the big ones. I actually think that we may be on pace for 50 wins this year upfrom 26 is it? Settle down folks the team'll be alright, and for the record most teams would be elated to have both of them (Yao Ming, and Steve Francis). We could easily have had Jay Williams and Lamar Odom instead, imagine that. We're about a quarter through the season and the team is learning, those who watch the games know what I am talking about when I say the following. Ming is not in the best physical condition endurance-wise having him take over every game now would kill him and he would undoubtedly hit the rookie wall he's obviously tired. That being said Stevie definitely forces the issues sometimes, but the guy is flat out dominant and both of them play such a complete game (Steve and Yao) that it's amazing. I say that you should all just sit back relax and let this thing play itself out, this year management once again proved that they can handle it, have faith it'll be better.
According to sina.com, here is what Ming actually said (well, my translation of it): "It is like solving math problems during an exam when I was a little kid: I tended to get the difficult ones but mess up the easy ones."
It's hard to tell anything from stats, team matchups dictate stats. Yao should be shooting 70% if we use those stats. But then again, Steve Francis has been a turnover machine throughout his NBA career. I can picture building a team around big men but not around small men, unless that small man is Isiah Thomas. Small men lose whatever speed/jumping advantage they have and have to rely on fundamentals and basketball IQ.
Wake up call. We can't play like Sacramento with our players. WE don't have Chris Webber, we don't have Mike Bibby. We have KT/EG/MoT and Steve. We can run the 2 man game with Steve and Yao ala Utah. We can make it work - but the others have to buy into the pick and roll and defense grind it out way of winning. Rockets are winning with defense - they can't outscore others.
Um... where did he point any fingers to anybody else? I didn't see any names mentioned. If you're talking about how he was saying people were saying they thought the team was better than it actually was... I believe that included himself.
