in my opinion, the toyota center REALLY needs to look into letting people move down to the lower bowls at halftime or something. the ushers stand there guarding a bunch of seats that are never even going to be taken. i watched the warriors game last night and their home crowd always makes me feel sad about the houston crowd. the warriors really do thrive off their fan energy, and the rockets simply don't have any fan energy to boost them.

i understand the logistical problem that would present itself once you start letting people mad rush the lower bowl for seats on a first come, first serve basis, but at least then there might be some semblance of excitement in the arena.

if anything, the rockets need to look into some kind of authorized arbitrage center where ticket-holders that know they won't be attending can make their seats available a few hours before the game at a discounted price. give a portion of those proceeds to the ticket-holder and let toyota center pocket the rest. everyone wins, right? ah, but that would just be too sensible a thing to do for it to ever really happen....

the spurs game I went to last month was much fuller and much louder, can't speak to how loud it was in there but there were a lot of empty seats

Let's face it, Houston fans have a bad rep and can't say it's not well deserved. It's too bad more of you guys can't make the games and cheer and make noise - i'm sure it would make a difference in our home record, and t-mac's shooting too!

It's always been a problem - that's the whole reason the red rowdies exist.

For the life of me, I can't understand why it's so bad in Houston. There's really no excuse. Rockets have brought home championships, have a winning record, are an excisting team to watch, you have a great player like lebron coming into town.

Makes no sense. I guess people get more pumped up for a team like San Antonio.

I'm sure having san antonio down the road is another reason..oh, and they are the champs.

it is sickening to see all the corporate chumps in their baby blue dress shirts talking on their cell phones and not cheering or clapping at all. Especially when we're playing, say...the Mavs or Grizz, I'm like, could it have KILLED you to wear red, or at least to NOT wear blue? I hate seeing all those empty seats down there, and being in a section full of loud, rabid fans that the TV can't hear because they're so high up. Let fans move down at halftime! Or at least implement some system so the rowdy fans can purchase lower-bowl tickets whose owners will not use.

Don't hate. Haha, just kidding man.

And you can't allow people to move down. Peopel use the restroom, entertain clients, get food, etc. and come back to their seats. Oh, but wait, some freeloader tryin to sit in my seat? I think not.

Besides...who do you think the organization will cater to? The corporate people buying season tickets in the lower bowl, or the whiners trying to get to the lower bowl for free?

Just sayin'. That's the reality of it.

    It's the announcer fault.

I was there and that place was not at capacity, i gotta believe we've sold out the Toyota Center atleast once. The entire section across from the announcing table was pretty empty

This is the reality. Almost the entire lower bowl is corporately owned. The majority of people go for business or occasionally get rewarded for business. You couple that with the fact that the vast majority of people that live in Houston are not originally from Houston, and you have a group of people that haven't grown up loving the Rockets like people in other cities love their sports teams. The people in this city support a winner, but a lot of them aren't lifelong fans.

Honestly, I don't even remember seeing the TC actually sold out. And by sold out, I mean every seat or at leas the ones that show on TV, are filled up. Every game this season always has a sea of empty red seats. The TC people could care less. All they care is that they sold out all their tickets. Hell, I'm pretty sure they rather have most of the people in the lounge spending more money instead of actually watching the game.

That would be kind of a ruckus, but I think it could be done.

Give everyone in the upper bowl a corresponding lower bowl seat. Allow the upper bowl people to check at halftime to see if their lower bowl seat was scanned in. If it wasn't, they have the option of remaining in their upper bowl seat or going down and sitting in the lower bowl.

I think this is a good way to give back to what are probably the truest fans.

someone else brought it up but how is one "sold out" game more sold out then another one?

i wanted to get tickets to the upperdeck but it was sold out online so i didn't go, then when i actually watch the game, it looks worse then a preseason crowd.

we've been a good road team and an average home team for entirely too long now.

look they added more floor seats this year

If you notice Gene and Jim are not on the floor anymore (their seats were sold) anything over 18k will be a sellout in that place, what happens is they have those 10 day of game suites and individual singles that at times do or do not sell.

The extra floor seats alone mean this season will have the "largest" crowds. Who cares, most of the games have been sellouts and the atmosphere early on was good. The Rockets just need to play better at home

houston crowds suck for the most part. I seriously get sick of going to games to watch all the corporate people just sit. the other part is, as for san antonio -- they don't have a football or baseball or even a soccer team..they have the spurs, that's it. that's why they consistently sell out.

houston is a football town...a baseball town...then a basketball town, sadly. with that said, if houston was winning as many games at home as they were on the road, the crowds might be a bit better. sadly we'll never see anything like golden state's crowds even in the playoffs.

fans here are just lackluster, lazy ass un-enthusiastic people. with that said, the rockets aren't exactly golden state or phoenix on the "fun" factor either. houston backs a winner, so we'll see where we're at in a month or two.

I guess it's just me, but whenever I go to a game, I never really payed any attention to the court-side corporate people. I'm always fixed at my Rockets and the cheerleaders keep me company during timeouts. I don't even remember how the lower bowl look like last time I went.

The only thing I notice is people staring back at me every time I yell something.
