Crazy, isn't it. It's almost like the best you could hope for is "bad." But "bad" is better than "very bad." When you're in that type of situation, you're damned no matter what you do; at least for the time being. The Ward/Lue rotation was one of those times when you ask, "Ok, what do we do now?" Keep staying the same or make a trade? As far as TMac getting more freedom. Remember that also at the start of the season TMac was deferring to Yao. And fans were clamoring with that "Give the ball to Yao" plan. Don't hear much of that today, do you?
MrRolo and DavidS - I think you guys should get a room i.e. exchange chat IDs so that you can chat about this stuff off these pages. I am saying this because I care. (C)
About what stuff? You mean the Rocket's JVG and his "system" and the perception of his coaching? That stuff? Kinda of like what this the thread article was about? "Rockets can be pushy - With team acclimating itself to faster tempo, scoring goes up" The first page wasn't really a cheerleading page. It was more about discusing the issues that lead to what our team was and is today.
Hey! We are just clearing the path that led to where we stand now. The past is important so we are clear on the mistakes we made and to learn not to repeat those mistakes.
I think you, along with a few others, mis-interpreted the quote of JVG saying he would not change. He was referring to how he treats players. JVG said he wasn't going to change and all of a sudden one day compliment and BS a player, trying to make him feel good. He never said ANYTHING about not changing his system. In fact, as he's repeated in several interviews, his reputation as a slow-down coach will follow him no matter what he does. The Rockets score over 100 PPG in the last 10, and people say it's because he's not coaching anymore. They have one game in the 80's, and people call it Gundy ball. As he said, reputations are something you can't shake and just have to live with.
