    Great News.

This team has SO MUCH TALENT. I am so excited for the season, we are so deep.

    Starting :
    Alston
    TMac
    Artest
    Scola
    Yoa

    Bench:
    Battier
    Landry
    Barry
    Hayes
    Dorsey
    Brooks
    Francis
    Head
    Deke

Can someone please name a better starting 5 then ours? What about a better bench? I think we have the best ON PAPER of both.

With all due respect, Landry's contract situation was the conversation here over the last several months and I haven't seen such outright dismissal of a valuable player here since Yao was drafted.

Mea culpas are in order and will be extracted in due course.

On the other hand, that guy who started the thread about Landry starting over Scola is completely damned for all time. :D

    25PPG is perhaps over-optimistic.

Lets not for get the pair only averaged 18 pts last season. It's difficult to increase it by 7 points considering that Yao is back and the front court is more loaded than before. Also when you add a ron artest, it takes away scoring opportunity from scolandry.

Let's not forget that Luis played in 82 games, but only started in 39 of them. That hurts his average. Similarly with Carl, he played 42 games but 5 of them were single digit minutes, not to mention he was injured toward the end of the season. That hurts his average. So Luis' 10 could easily become 14 or so, and Carl's 8 could become 10.

Optimistic, sure, but over-optimistic? I wouldn't say that.

    Lakers' starting 5 are better.
Jazz also have better starting 5 and a better bench.

Not really, I'll take our starting 5 over both...

Houston's starting 5 atleast matches LA's with the ovrl edge going to Houston, because Houston has the defensive players/matchups to shutdown LA's best players.

And the Jazz simply don't have a better starting 5 or bench, that simply isn't true.

    Dude what are you smoking?

    D.Wil l> Rafer
    Brewer < T-Mac
    AK-47 < Artest or Battier
    Loozer > Scola
    Okur < Yao

    Jazz Bench Rockets Bench
    Korver Artest or Battier
    Miles Landry
    Almond Brooks
    Harping Barry
    Knight Head
    Millsap Hayes
    Price Deke
    Francis

We are better than the Jazz.

The Lakers have a slight edge in Kobe and Gasol. They might have a better bench though.

we do have more talent than the jazz this year I will agree completely with that...

but with the jazz the sum is always greater than the parts..they've all played together for the past 2-3 seasons and have developed chemistry with each other...something the rockets at least for right now do not have with having a major player like artest coming in and playing (either starting or coming off the bench)....I dont think the jazz can beat us this year in a 7 game series if both teams are healthy but you cant dismiss the jazz so easily like many people are they are a really tough team.

the lakers i would also agree the lakers probably have the most talent in their starting five along with houston (if artest starts) and boston...their bench though lost a key contributer in Turiaf though radmonivic is back on the bench. but i think all their bench players are mainly wing/guards ---ariza, farmar, vujacic, radmonivic, walton, the only big off their bench is mihm who has played a total of what 15 games the past 2 seasons combined?

I think are bench is much more balanced in talent than the lakers bench but the overall talent on the bench is in houston favor since we have either artest or battier coming off the bench --a legitimate starter on any NBA team
they have better guards in vujacic, farmar and ariza (unless francis makes a good recovery from surgery and is a solid contributer) and i take landry, hayes and dorsey over mihm.

either way this season will be fun to watch hopefully the rockets can stay healthy

    Utah have several advantages:

    1. Efficiency.
    2. Efficiency.
    3. 3 point shooting from everyone.
    4. The Great PG
    5. Home court.

    Advantages of Rockets:
    1. TMAC's 4th quarter.
    2. Yao's 44% shooting facing Okur.
    3. 3 point shooting from Head.
    4. Rafer.
    5. Refs love Rockets and Yao.
