Why do people care so much about an athlete's public speaking skills? Not everyone is comfortable speaking in front of camera. Doesn't make him a dumb ass.
-The guy was given a nonguarenteed contract and immediately sent to the D-League. More than likely he's only really seriously considered for training camp, or insurance if they somehow need bigs next season. With the amount of hard work going into developing Thabeet, free agency possibilities, and 3 draft picks to get a big, I dont think his chances are slim to none at making the final cut next season. However, if a major trade goes down, several bigs are traded/injured, and Cousin makes major improvement... He just then... maybe might have a slim chance at making the team. -Carroll was not going to be a Rocket next year, and its better for him to get an early start prepping for a chance to get in the D-League and get better, play overseas, or get on another team that you have a chance at making their training camp squad.
he seemed very nervous there but he looks much better than lets say thabeet  <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/tgwKGPGmQh0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> def some potential, good pick morey <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/h8mGaNCe37E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/N6OnldhLwpc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/UAjAfgkmQx0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/w1TMrYHqo94" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
On the plus side - he seemed to know literally every American he played with/against and what school they are from off the top of his head. I don't think I could have just rattled off that many names/schools like that.
Didn't Houston also get Maxwell and Scola from San Antonio? MC looks like he has a good perimeter shot. Could he be Houston's Marcus Camby? Can he embarrass Timmy Duncan? Houston can now focus on a wide-body center and defensive SF.
Very unlikely. Cousin is the equivalent of a lottery ticket - probably won't pay off at all, but if you take enough shots like that, one of them is bound to hit sooner or later. Hill's days as a Rocket might be numbered, but only because we have so many players at PF, and he's still learning to play C. The Rockets have shown that they will give him minutes, though Scola, Hayes, PPatt are ahead of him. Cousin wouldn't even be ahead of Thabeet, except that Thabeet is very expensive. Cousin wishes he were Mike Harris - somebody just about guaranteed to get half a season in, somewhere, every season. If Hill gets traded, he will not get traded for a 2nd-round pick; he will not be on any 10-day contracts. He will get minutes. A good delusion can be a fine thing, but Hill is nowhere near Cousin's level.
It is obvious by now Hill is a bust, so he should not have been a lottery pick. You can tell by now that the minutes Hill got earlier was a mistake. The proof of this is that he doesnt get minutes anymore. And the team has been playing much better without him in the line up. You say IF Hill gets traded, well he wont get traded because Morey already tried and no one wanted him. So thats even worse then being traded for a 2nd pick. Its not very far fetched to think Cousins can get minutes over Hill and will have a more valuable career than Hill. Only time will tell.
Heh, even DX gets confused; out of the 5 tweets about him on his profile page, 4 of them are about DeMarcus Cousins. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Marcus-Cousin-6337/ This is obviously a low risk, but not zero-risk move; if he gets injured at any point, the Rockets lose the ability to cut him prior to the season and have to pay him until he rehabs, as well as paying for his rehab. Something similar happened to the Nuggets and Brian Butch last summer, when he blew out his knee, and I think that the Rockets got stuck with Dion Glover back in the day as well. http://www.aolnews.com/2010/08/14/nuggets-waive-coby-karl-brian-butch/ Otherwise, I'm assuming the signing is so that RGV has a competent center for the playoffs rather than Thabeet, as it's clear that the Rockets are trying to do everything to grow a dedicated fan-base, which includes giving the team the best chance to win. Ridiculous Upside has some coverage of it here: http://www.ridiculousupside.com/201...-rockets-sign-marcus-cousin-from-nba-d-league
Why is Jordan Hill a bust? Rafael Araujo was a bust. Slomile Swift and Robert Swift were busts. Hill has had productive NBA games. Sure he hasn't exactly knocked anyone's socks off but that's because he's being forced to play center. In a lottery team with him as the starting PF and getting 30 minutes a night he'd a be a lot better by now. Saying nobody wanted him is total BS, what probably happened was DM didn't like the offers for Hill. I'm pretty sure the offers he turned down were worth more than a 2nd round pick.
Maybe my definition of a bust is wrong. My understading is someone who doesnt have a role on a team. Someone who doesnt look like having a role on team in the future. Ok fine he is playing out of position at C. Where can he play PF? Lets look at the teams weak at 4. Over Fyre and Warrick? Over Hansborough and McRoberts? Behind Aldridge or Brand? Or maybe behind Humpries? I see him playing behind Humpries at best. But they will most likely find someone better. Most top 10 picks earn a role within 2 years, Im not even talking about standing out, just merely playing a role in every game.
Interesting. Looks like a poor man's LaMarcus Aldridge in those highlights. No post game, but pretty good touch. I think I'd be more excited if he moved more like Aldridge than Yao with the frame he has.
