He's a good project to develop. He has size and strength; plays with passion and doesn't have the mental lapses like Jordan Hill. I would delevop this kid and trade Jordan in a second.
His media skills remind me of this guy: <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Nfv1FhdaBBk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I guess the fact that the trade deadline had long since passed, and that Cousins will probably never be traded anytime soon, completely slipped my mind when I read the thread title. I smiled for like three seconds.
So is his last name really pronounced Koo ZAWN or was that interviewer just trying out his French? lol. At least nobody'll get him confused with Demarcus Cousins when they say his name.
I was thinking the same thing, its alot better than him getting a few games with garbage time under his belt. But i really would like to see Thabeet start a few games, just to be able to give him a decent judgement on our team,
A non guaranteed 3 years contract? Wht 3 years? Does Morey really think Cousin has a chance to play for the Rox? It will be interesting to see how he goes in summer league and pre season. The road just became that much harder for Thabeet. More competition for playing time, I wonder how he will take it.
Might be a weak draft but Kawhi Leonard would be a major upgrade of Chase Bud at SF. Point being there are great role players, just maybe not stars.
Since he signed with the Rockets and not the Vipers, Harris might not be eligible. IIRC only rookies and second-year players can get sent down. Patterson, on the other hand, has no restrictions.
I think that rule must have been changed, as Steve Novak - a former draft pick of the Rockets about 5 years ago - spent some time in the D-league this year before being called up in February by the Spurs. Here is a link to a story on that: Spurs Sign Reno's Steve Novak
Novak was cut by the Mavericks, and had signed with Reno on his own. Any team, not just the Spurs, could have signed him. The Rockets could cut Harris, and he would be free to sign with RGV, but they couldn't just send him down. They did the same thing with Harris in the past. It essentially is a way for the Rockets to guarantee Cousin is on our summer league team, and in training camp next year. On the off chance Cousin does blow up in a good way, he's locked on to the roster for cheap. It's essentially a couple years of team options, which are beneficial because they're easily declined (or can be used to match salary in the near term, with the counterparty easily cutting the player).
Hey, Daryl can sign all the size he wants. Cousin didn't get to show much at UH... Penders and all. Saw him play at the Hoff many times. He's got size, he can run, and he won't be the dumbest guy on the floor. I was actually a little shocked to hear he was getting a look by the NBA. If he gets there, he'll have done it the hard way. You can be sure that he was behind in his development coming out of college. I'm thinking he'll stick with the Vipers, but we've (probably?) had worse big guys at the end of the bench.
That's how they pronounced his name during the pre-season broadcast when he was on the Spurs roster. So, I think it's the real pronounciation. He also seems to be a pretty consistently productive D-League player: 14.9 pts, 8.6 rebs, 1.1 blks in 30.2 mpg. http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfile/marcus_cousin/ I wonder the reason for signing Cousin is actually to be an upgrade to Thabeet the for RGV's playoff run. Thabeet put up some numbers, but doesn't seem consistent in his D-League stint, so maybe RGV's coach begged to have him replaced after the loss to Bakersfield in the first playoff game?
