Link [rquoter]The Rockets have reached an agreement with former University of Houston center Marcus Cousin and will sign him to a three-year, non-guaranteed deal today, a person with knowledge of the move said. Cousin, a 6-11 center who played briefly for the Rockets 2009 summer league team, was with the Spurs and Jazz this season. To make room for Cousin, the Rockets will waive forward DeMarre Carroll, a forward acquired from the Memphis Grizzlies in the trade that sent Shane Battier to Memphis. Hasheem Thabeet, the other player acquired in that deal, will be recalled from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers with Cousin taking Thabeet’s spot on the Vipers roster.[/rquoter]
Splash! We got the fake DeMarcus Cousins! Given that Cousin is a 24 year old rookie who has scored a total of 4 points in the NBA. My guess would be none whatsoever. All he gets is remainder of the season plus a camp invite next year.
Sickkkk, this kid has a chance to be an elite center, what a deal!!!! But when did the kings waive him?
I agree. Should have done it on April Fool's Day. I think they just wanted one more big body for the D-League team.
Interesting, with two young centers on the roster now, plus T-willl and Hill, what will Morey do with the draft pick? Will he trade it for a veteran, considering this is a weak draft and we already have a handful of projects?
wow good signing from the Rockets. This guy was on the Spurs preseason roster, and was hoping we could keep him, but had enough bigs, and ended up keeping Novak, and signing Danny Green, and Da'sean Butler. Cousin's has the talent even with a nice jump shot, and great size. Is defintley a high reward low risk move.
When i saw the title i was like OMGWTFBBQ Then I read the first sentence and was like a OMGWTFUTRICKEDMEUBTCH!!!!!
Player gets paid as much or more than he makes for the whole season in D-League. Rockets pay the least they can for a contract that they may need to make a off-season trade workable.
I remember Cousin at UH. He was a big square peg in the round hole that was Tom Penders' "system." I know his successes have been small in pro ball, but given what he did (or didn't do) in college, I would have never guessed he's get as far as he already has.
nothing odd about this timing. par for the course for the rockets as they have done this several times in the past. it gets a player into their program, provides a guaranteed body for summer league (if there is one), and he can be cut at not cost prior to the season. i'm pretty sure that mike harris has ridden this train at least once before.
