I think the majority of cities/towns with representative clubs find it pretty hard to deal with when their team has been stinking it up for years on end.

the old spirit is broken pretty easily, other factors then take over.

work, marriage, other sports teams performing better...

only the hardcore like clutchfans really hang around in the tough times. And im bloody well thinking that I might just pull the plug if this season doesnt pan out...

sadly, im only half joking at this point.

Uhmm... I made my first significant ticket purchase last year, a mini plan pair about 10 rows in front of where the Rowdies are this year. Long story, but my wife was going thru chemo and Rockets games were about the only thing that would get her out of the house. We bought season tix this time around.

Anyway, for games where you can't go and you can't give away, call the Rox and donate 'em to the Clutch City Foundation. They'll get the tickets to someone who couldn't otherwise go, and you'll get the tax writeoff.

I don't mean to question your fanaticism towards that team, but isn't the definition of a fan to stick with the team through good times and bad?
Isn't that what bandwagon fans are all about?

We won a championship 10 years ago. Half of the NBA teams have never won a championship and others have been perennially bad.

Only one team can win the championship every year out of 32 teams. Except for last year, I would consider the previous 2 years for the Rockets somewhat fulfilling and enjoyable to watch. Even last year was ok. Players were busting their azz and playing hard.

I think moral character and attitude should count for something too. THe Blazers have been in trouble for years but they still have their fan base.

Nothing would make me not cheer for the Rockets. :)

Sorry I missed that discussion. The new rule makes more sense, if you have to have 3 divisions. I suppose Stern went to 3 divisions to involve more teams in the playoff chase.

I love the Rockets more than any other team in any sport and any league, and we do have some great, great fans...

... But in general, I don't think anyone can deny that Houston has probably more (or a higher percentage) of worthless fair weather fans than any other major city.

Rockets "fans" especially... the "fans" and the city's (lack of) support just makes me sick to my stomach. Doesn't show a lot of strength of character from that city.

But once we're on our way to what looks like a successful year, people will be showing up to games in droves and the arena will be bangin. I remember how crazy it got during the mid-late 90s.

It's a ******* shame, cuz the Rockets could REALLY use their city's support at home. Badly.

Does anyone else think the comment about Stro being one of the top two worst personnel moves was a bit harsh? I can think of at least 5 others that were much worse than signing Stro(i.e. Matt Maloney).
