Bill Holmes passed along a tidbit from the simmering Albert Pujols for Ryan Howard swap rumors, this one via mlb.com: "It might not even be possible for Pujols to be dealt to Philadelphia. His current contract, which runs through this season with a club option for 2011, provides him limited no-trade protection. Each fall, he provides a list of teams to which he can be dealt, and on Monday he listed Florida, Houston and the two Los Angeles teams as among the destinations he would accept." http://blogs.chron.com/fanblogastro...stonchronicle/fanblogastros+(FanBlog:+Astros)
For their large Hispanic populations? Pujols to Houston will never happen via trade. Houston's only chance is via Free agency. As of right now, the only salary commitment they have for 2012 is Brandon Lyon and Carlos Lee. It ain't happening though.
Lol...if Pujols came to Houston I would **** my pants. Easily the greatest hitter in the game and has been for the past decade. Take him out of the Cardinals lineup and they are probably a 70 win team. There is no player that makes a bigger impact on there team in todays game. Maybe other than Ichiro and Mauer.
Pujols owned Brad Lidge, and his vacant spot in the Astros roster. Goodness this Carlos Lee's around a hefty long time.
Something else to note is that of those teams he listed when he hits free agency he might be giving them an edge on getting him. If we knew Pujols would come here if we offered the right amount i'd throw everything at him.
10 years and $250 million for a 32 year old player. I assume thats his market price. No state income tax.
Isn't it nice to dream? He torches us on a regular basis, but if it came down to playing for Houston, he would have NO problem
If Daryl Morey was the Stros GM he'd get Pujols at the deadline for... Pujols for Norris, Towles and Manzella Seriously, Pujols to the Stros would be a dream come true so probably won't happen but at least we'd be in the conversation.
My guess is the only big name they would want from us would be Oswalt. So that would mean Pujols would go to first, with Berkman and Lee in the outfield. Yikes.
Eh... Often time players pick teams that couldn't pull a trade off for them anyway to give them leverage to waive the no-trade.
Even though i say this has no shot of ever happening...i think i would cry if i saw this trade go down...that is the one person in MLB that I hate only for the fact he plays on our rival..if he was on like the twins i would easily be a huge fan..I wish this goes down but it wont happen via trade cuz we simply do not have what these other teams have talent wise...i mean who would we give them?? Castro, Norris, Bogusevic, Lyles and Seaton i mean that is a nice offer but i dont think i would do that unless he signed an extension with us after we traded ala Roy Halladay..and plus do you honestly think the cards would trade pujols to an NL team let alone a team in their division???
Pujols is only 5 for 18 against Lidge lifetime with just the 1 Hr and only 1 double. Once again, that's 2 extra base hits in 18 official ab's.
eh, throw Pujols at 3B. He did okay over there and has good hands! Come onnnnnnnnnnnn let's dream, and maybe it'll happen.. riiight..
