dang, i was not trying to compare Horry to Rodman...i was just using him to support my opinion as to why Rodman might not be considered. I never said he wouldn't get in, that Rod sucks beyond all reason. All I said was Rodman was a great rebounder and defender, but his game was one-dimensional, which is a pretty fair argument. I would never consider him a superstar...a star, yes, albeit before he left the Bulls. But a superstar, no. And as far as making it into the hall of fame...if he does, that's fine. If he doesn't, I'm ok with it too. And as for the unis, I have to agree with UTweezer there...there dismal...they have just too much going on.
Hmm, I dunno. When the Rockets introduced their new uni's at the beginning of the 95/96 seasons, they were fresh off another championship. And the moment I saw Clyde unveil the new look, my reaction was thus:
Uh, no. Because the Texans aren't winning, but their unis STILL look good. The Astros aren't winning, and their unis STILL look good. Bad is BAD!
I think I figured out our road woes... The white home unis look bad... ...but the blue road unis look REALLY BAD! How can you have confidence in yourself if you are forced to wear clown suits? At least at home you can "be yourself" because you are among "friends" that wont laugh at you because you look silly in those unis. On the road, they get laughed at on a regular basis. [Blue Unis: The large white stripes really show on the blue unis. Yuk!]
atari rainbow city scape ala old denver unis... we need something really cool retro yet new... im worried too, i hated the cell. that movie sucked.
Here's what happens when you cross the Texans and the Rox: The Buffalo Destroyers. But seriously, enough with the jetstream pinstripes! Bring back the red as a primary, with navy and silver to complement the red.
As an aside, does anyone remember during the mid 90's when the NBA released alternate logos on caps? They weren't official logos, but the Rocket's version was pretty clever. It was a navy blue cap with a maroon bill. The logo was a connected H and R and in caps with a simple rocket flying in the middle. It was simple, classic, and looked great on a cap. The current logo screams Metallica or Legend of Zelda to me. A 1950's view of space travel would be perfect. Think Jetsons, Flash Gordon, or even Buzz Lightyear and you'll see what I'm getting at!
jesus CHRIST you people DO NOT READ POSTS I said "there are exceptions!" ;lsdfnq34grc2 READ AND THINK BEFORE YOU REPLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
by the way, the Texan's unis look very derivitive and contrived.. totally unoriginal.. I think they should be changed asap (i'm not too fond of Red white and blue for any uniforms really) the golden rule is still that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Let's see, the bland, boring, red white and blue suit...(unoriginal)... ...or, the double-peppermint, Crusty the Clown, freak-of-nature, uniform from Hell suit? (original) Tough choice...
here's the major difference: Texans unis = just came out, already look outdated Rockets unis = came out in the mid 90s, still look very conceptual
Texans unis = classy, futuristic yet traditional. Even USC has followed our lead with their new football uni's by borrowing our red fading srtipe on the shoulder. Rox uni's = conceptually ugly. You say they are original, but New Jersey has the same colors and their uni's make those colors look good. If you remember correctly, Atlanta changed their uni's to one that had a similar design of our current uniforms (black that faded to red uni's). They changed those designs two years later.
Hey, you gotta start somewhere!!!! Seattle and the Pats obiviously took note of that too. And you cant find a better looking helmet in the league. But atleast we dont look like the Buffalo Bills either. Their Road combo makes the Rox uni's look good. White jersey, Navy Blue shoulders, Light Blue numbers, Red helmets......Its just horrific!! Lets just hope Eiko doesnt come up with a number like this for the Rox.
hehe I think that the rockets unis might look cooler if they ditched the pin stripes and extended that red stripe on the side of the shorts up the side of the jersey and put just the "rockets" name on the front instead of the whole basketball w/ rocket
Yes, you are right. Bingo!!! "Pin-stripes" done right, are known to look good. Orlando's unis aren't that bad. But the Rockets unis don't use "pin-stripes." They use "jet-stream stripes." They're too big! That's what makes them look like pajamas or clown suits.
just reading the word "futuristic" made me scream out loud. i've been hoping for a retro look all along.
