Here's a concept I came up with -- a slight modification on the current design. Sure, it's a bit unconventional, but in Yao's case, it fits. Now if we can just work on his vertical leap a bit...

I'm getting really sick of people bashing our unis.

I mean come on, they're one of the most unique looking uniforms in allllllllll of pro sports (with the raptors and titans right there as well).. personally I think our team looks pretty slick in the dark blue..

but I will welcome the change

Dennis Rodman was one of the most unique looking players in alllllllllll of pro sports -- but I wouldn't want a team full of guys who look like him.

I agree that color scheme isn't working right now for the Rockets, but not for the same reasons. Aesthetically, I think the red/blue combo is a classic that can look great if done right (which the Rockets... almost did IMO). I mean, you see that combo everywhere, but the reason I want the blue gone as our primary color is cuz it's just not very Rocket-y.

Rockets don't normally trail navy blue flames.

The Rockets organization need to let the FANS vote on the final uniform design - we're the ones who are going to support our beloved Rockets team by buying them, let us have a say!

I personally hope they go back to something a little more like our classic uni's that was worn while winning back-to-back championships; no more smiley rocket and no more pinstripes!

he's also a future hall of famer.

Rodman? A future hall of famer?

Tell me, how can do I get to your alternate universe? It sounds like an interesting place to visit.

led NBA in rebounding 7 years in a row (1992-98); member of 5 NBA champion teams with Detroit (1989,90) and Chicago (1996-98); 2-time defensive player of the year (1990-91).

sounds like a decent resume to me..

Ill concede that he might garner consideration. But by no means is he a lock and in reality, hes probably a long shot IMO.

I admit his persona was pretty brash.. but it's hard to ignore his talent.. I just hope they don't penalize him for the movies he did.. or cross dressing =\

Well no doubt, that will hurt him. Plus his surly relationship with the media.

No doubt, he was a great rebounder and defender. But in that sense, he was one dimensional. He could not score to save his life, his FT% was downright awful.

Last I checked, he was #15 all time in rebounds. However, if you look at some of the players around him that had almost as many rebounds (Sickma, Willis, Laimbeer, Thorpe, Silas) as Rod did, they had much better offensive #s yet are not HOFers or will never be HOFers.

I would be VERY suprised to see Rod in the Hall of Fame. Stranger things have happened, but I just don't see it here.

Well, Bullard was a member of our beloved Rockets during the championship years, but he's not going to the hall of fame, so you can't really use that as a measuring stick. Yes, Rodman should perhaps get some consideration bc of his rebounding and defensive abilities. But, in reality, he was a pretty 1-dimensional player.

Comparing Matt Bullard to Dennis Rodman? Hmm.. that's a bit of a stretch..

I think Rodman was an important part of all of those championship teams.. given that Jordan was with the Bulls and all, but you have to wonder what would have happened without that Rodman factor.. and the same can be said for Scottie Pippen.

    Re: Uniforms

#1 - Please ditch the blue and the pinstripes forever. Red definitely, yellow/gold would be my choice for secondary color, gray/silver would likely look good too.

#2 - I'd suggest starting with the old unis then updating them with a nicer cut, and new logo and font. But the basic idea would remain.

#3 - Don't forget to think about how they look on TV and how they will look on the floor in the new area. I remember you couldn't see our players when they entered the dark blue painted interior 3pt semi circle a few years ago.

#4 - As for me, I'd rather you guys err on the conservative side than go for something "unique".

#5 - If it's not too much to ask, could we NOT have our uniform pants go down past the guys knees? No way I'm for returning to the short-shorts of the 70's, but could we buck the hoodlum trend have the shorts hem visibly above the knees?

Thanks Tim for the info. If you guys get this half right, I'll buy some new stuff. My old caps with the Red/Yellow are wearing very poorly.

calling Rodman one dimesional is kind of a cheap shot.. because Rodman was on teams with Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Michael Jordan, and Scottie Pippen.. so he was never requested to be a leading scorer.. he did his job, and he did it damned well..
