so you think effort got something to do with shooting miserably? I wish it were that easy. When the team is heavily dependent on 3 pointers and Free Throws effort can get you back into games but you probably won't win many games when those are not falling.
To me player only meetings aren't that big of a deal. The bottom line is real accountability comes from the coach. The way Harden keeps using the word "we" I truly believe he doesn't feel he is a big part of the problem at this point. The only thing that's going to get his attention is getting benched for a Q or so after showing pathetic effort out there and let him know the bench is where he will stay until consistent effort is shown. Start making an example out of him for a change. If McHale is worried about stroking Harden's ego at this point, McHale better be careful or he won't have an ego to stroke after he's canned after being first round fodder. No one is bigger than the team especially if they are hurting the team more than helping them.
It is high time for the players to have a players only meeting. They need to sharpen their focus 48 minutes and not become so lackadaisical.

I can't help but feel like this meeting is just a band aid for next game. Harden stepped up his defense for preseason and lost focus. He will refocus now and just let it slip by again. What we need is someone who can put Harden is his place. Someone who will b**** slap him during a game when someone hits a wide open three.
Sounding more and more like the texans. How about the head coach recognize errors in game and correct them. Demand focus from every single player. Harden does whatever the hell he wants.

The discussion should not only centre around certain individuals because that will just become the blame game everytime there is a loss...it should be about changing everyone's mentality, starting strong from ball up, giving 100% effort, playing team ball, and everyone holding everyone accountable if they don't meet these standard on the court.
