That team will not be contender or good enough to warrant an extension for a 36 year old PJ. Trade him for younger assets to go with Herro and Robinson .

If the Rockets get those two and picks you will see us try to unload Wall( hopefully he builds his value on the court) for assets in the same age bracket as Herro and Robinson. This team will have a gradual rebuild. It’s going to be the natural course to take.Wood, Herro and Robinson will be the main core to build around

Wood is the main piece with Herro and Robinson being very good supplementary pieces. Then you add pieces via free agency in the age bracket of the early to mid twenties and use the draft picks to keep adding young pieces.

We’ll see. I think they should keep Wall regardless. That lineup may not be title contenders, but they are playoff caliber IMO with a lot of potential. Wall’s contract also comes off the books around the time of a Herro and Wood extension. You can retool without tanking. Morey did it.

8 th seed at best but it’s going to be a while before the Rockets are going to be a contender again. It’s just a natural process of a rebuild.

Morey didn’t tank because Harden was a freak and a ready made franchise player from the get go at age 23. He didn’t need time.

Perhaps I’m higher on Herro than most. I think he’s a baller who could develop a quick and special combo with Wood.

I’m speaking of pre-Harden. Morey was able to field a competitive team while retaining enough assets to trade for Harden.

I liked Herro more when he was still calling himself Jeremy Lin.

The only time pre harden this team was competitive was with a healthy yao

Its not about high or not, it’s he is still not ready to be the main piece to elevate you to contender status. He is 20. He will need a few years

Hence why John Wall is a nice stopgap. If healthy, Wall’s a 20/10 guy who can carry a lot of the load. Regardless, it’s not like Herro has shied away from the big stage.

John Wall is 30. He doesn’t fit the age bracket. He won’t be here when Herro, and Wood and Robinson hit their primes in 5 to 7 years. You don’t pay a stopgap max money. He will be shipped by next season. The Rockets will build up his value this season so another contender in need can see he can still play at an all star level

I think he's ready to be an 18ppg star from the get-go with starter's minutes and more possessions.

He is already a 16 points a night player so he better be giving you 18 a game.

I think the scoring would be more distributed. Wood, Herro, Robinson, Wall and Gordon could all be in the 15-20ppg range

I say again I think the Blazers are the best fit for James. He gets a fresh start with a balanced starting 5. He plays with a 2 guard that doesn’t need the ball. He has a capable big and 3-D ROCO. In return We get a high scoring PG clear num 1 option that can draw double teams and create shots. I think this move works for both guys. Unfortunately I would include PJ in the deal as well and get back Dame Dolla and 1-2 more players/draft picks if possible. Haven’t looked at numbers but I would like to see this happen. Don’t be surprised if you see it as well. Dame can’t win in Portland and James can’t win in Houston. Both can benefit with a change in scenery and I think harden can take the players deeper. For Rox I would play John wall as a sixth man. Sorry John. What y’all think?

I just think we disagree about how competitive a Rockets team with Robinson and Herro can be. A Wall, Herro, Robinson, Tucker, Wood, EGO, House, and Boogie team reminds me a lot of, well, the Heat currently.
