I agree, UNLESS the Rockets are leaking to the media with the purpose to get a resolution by 12/22.... either the offers go up and the Rockets make a deal OR Harden looks at the landscape and says "Okay I will stay".

It feels to me like the Rockets just don't want this to linger and don't want to readdress it at the deadline, either in or out.

I think it's smart to sign Tucker to an ext. If Harden stays he is still a good piece for a contender. If Harden goes we have a very easily movable contract, which is something we lack.

Especially if the Rockets end up making a trade where they take back a lot of expiring contracts.

Tucker needs to be very careful if he wants to expand his sneaker collection, yes basketball is important too but its only a tool for them shoes.... Tucker needs to consider all options that can and will land him every new pair of Jordan's to come...

I agree. I love Harden's game, but you gotta know, YOU'RE EITHER IN OR OUT! Enough with the drama If wants out get a deal you can live with and move on. If he wants in, they are some minor housekeeping moves that will be needed to shape the roster. ( Perhaps Clemons & a 2nd to a team with cap space to free a roster spot.)

Yes, you are right that most teams don’t look to extend 35-year-old role players, but Tucker’s situation with the Rockets is unique. He’s incredibly close with the team’s franchise player, who they are trying to persuade to drop his trade demand. He also didn’t start playing heavy minutes in the NBA until he was 27.

If we were talking about giving Tucker a three or four- year deal, then, yes, it’s horrible business. But, we are talking about an extension in the neighborhood of two years, $16-$20 million ($8-$10 million a year). If such an extension convinces Harden to stay, great. If it still doesn’t persuade Harden, the contract is small enough and short enough that contenders would trade for it at the 2022 trade deadline.

This is why I don't feel sorry for him. Dude, your career is almost over and you're still collecting sneakers like a teen. These are your last years in the league get ready man.

So if Tucker is a teen on the inside how could we attract him to sign a cheaper extension? Free PS5? No bedtime or curfew? I think we should pull out all the stops and study teen behavior to see exactly how Tucker's brain functions and use it to our advantage.

    Like @treyk3 shared previously, loyalty.

I think that's a big thing for Harden too. His crew seems like a lot of guys he's known for a long time (and rappers and THOTs)....

I'm surprised there are any extension talks at all with the Harden situation unfolding the way it us. They seem to be linked. If a Harden trade is imminent there's no way we extend PJ.

OG Anunoby. A very good defensive small forward that gave Lebron fits 2 years ago. He’s 23, has a 7’2” wingspan, hits 70% at the rim and 39% from 3. Very athletic. Plays for Toronto.

He’s in the last year of his rookie contract, but he won’t get a max deal. Low usage, 3 & D guy.

House and 2 picks for him

    Wall / Brown
    Harden / Gordon
    Anunoby / McLemore
    PJ / Tate or Nwaba
    Wood / Cousins

House and picks for Anunoby, Gordon and picks for Aaron Gordon...something that will make Harden think he’s on a contender.

This needs to be put on a billboard on every corner of downtown Houston.

I love Tucker but I’m very skeptical of paying somebody 8 figures whose closer to 40 than he is 30. Trade the guy. His defense is overrated. He’s just scrappy

The only way I want to see Tucker extended is if the numbers are very favorable or Harden is staying. There's no reason to get Gordoned again. Cap flexibility will be important for the rebuild.
