Funny enough. Watching the press conference/interviews yesterday, I am getting the feeling that Kevin McHale might be the smartest guy in that room and will become more influential than almost anyone here thinks. In fact, I'm getting the vibe that McHale might end up replacing Morey as the GM. Kevin McHale is going to live amongst the analytics guys, learn their language and their ways, gain their admiration and become their leader.
Muad'Dib is wise in the ways of the desert. Muad'Dib creates his own water. Muad'Dib hides from the sun and travels in the cool night. Muad'Dib is fruitful and multiplies over the land. Muad'Dib we call 'instructor-of-boys.' That is a powerful base on which to build your life, Paul Muad'Dib, who is Usul among us.
Adelman was living in Oregon at the time and watching a lot of pac-10 ball. The GM and coach work together and I'm sure Adelman pushed and sold AB hard. There is a reason why Adelman was so butt hurt about the AB trade when he was simply abysmal all season. Also, you don't think Adelman tried to persuade DM into signing Brad Miller?
If you can't get Pop, you obviously go after guys like Frank, Casey, McHale, Elie, Cassell, Woodson, Sampson, and John Lucas. I'm sure Pop would be just fine with grooming some D-league coach to take his place.
Less than $1 million this year, and they got more than $8 million of Yao's deal back from insurance for a net gain of more than $7 million. Don't fall for the "We are paying the lux tax" BS...that is pure spin......technically correct, but horsecrap to the extreme. DD
I am still trying to figure out which teams are doing this innovative GM/coach thing that the Rockets have been late to the party to put in place? Also trying to figure out WTF in Morey's past qualifies him to give input on coaching decisions? Hell, he hasn't proven to be a competent GM at this point.
He's had an well-above-average batting avg. with late picks. He's made good trades, obtaining good players like Lowry and Scola for little in return. He also made other deals that worked out for the team: Artest, Lee, Martin, and I'd count Dragic among them. These, of course, are all signs of incompetence in your universe.
This story confirms what I've felt all along. McHale is our new coach because he was the one most willing to roll over and wag his tail for the front office. Neither Les nor Daryl should be involved in coaching decisions. Les says the coach can't think of everything and needs a staff? That's why a coach has a staff. A coaching staff. Even Mark Cuban doesn't pull this crap. Go back to New York, Les, so I can root for the team I grew up with with some pride again.
Boston does something similar.... Dallas as well.... Miami... Morey is not a competent GM? I see you are sad you will possibly lose your assistant coaches.
A little off topic, but MemphisX, I was wondering if you have any feel for Joerger and specifically what sort of defense he runs?
It's not "IF", we are a better team without Brooks. And no, Morey was not wrong because we were a better team with him than Alston. Suck on that b****. Anyways. I trust more someone that went to MIT than you who didn't even graduate from school.

You fail to realize part of the reason you're mentioning players like Lowry is because they played so great under Adelman. The read &react offense gave our guards move freedom to create. More credit should go to Adelman As far as Morey, he's been at best mediocre. Our team overall is still bottom level talent wise, so im not sure how you guys overrate Morey. Looking at the west you easily find teams who've done better through trades and especially free agency
