Tmac, MJ, Chuck, Luther, Dikembe, Shane, and Bonzi were all brought here under JVG's tenure. That's half our roster. Trust me, we were bringing in quality players well before JVG was fired.

No, but we didn't get very much talent before Van Gundy was here either, in fact we never got very much talent at all while Carrol was GM, only the obvious ones like T-Mac.

I'm not for or against Jeff, it is what it is, but I can't lay blame for all of our problems at his feet alone. He did some things I disliked and some things I thought were good, but when you need good stationary jump shooters and you don't go out and get good stationary jump shooters, then the GM isn't doing his job. Jeff was the one who actually went to MJ's house to get him to sign with the Rockets, that doesn't sound like someone who wasn't a least trying.

Tmac was a gimme. Magic pretty much wrapped him up and gave him to us. If JVG had refused that one, its safe to say he would be driven out of this town overnight...

MJ was brought in and sent right back out for Rafer....and then he kept refusing to let him back in despite offers on the table.

We gave up Brandon Roy for Shane Battier. Those extra meaningless games at the end of the season sure made a difference....I am not sure in what though. Lottery pick for Shane? Nice guy and all but....eh. Yes yes I know, we were in win now mode...I just didn't know it was win a playoff series mode. We failed even at that. Ooops!

Wow! We got 60 year old Deke! Along with 60 year old Charlie Was, 75 year old Wesley Snipes, and a 100 year old Rod Stuckland! W00t! Talent galore!

Oh did I forget about Ryan flyin Bowen?? My bad!

Well, I'm definitely much happier than I would be as a Nets fan! 51 wins in the West and beats stumbling into the playoffs as a .500 team (41-41) in the East. Getting out of the first round is nice and all, but beating the Raptors ain't no great shakes in my book. Somehow, Boki wasn't able to catapult them past the fearsome Cavaliers!

In short, am I content with superior skills and talent in comparison to the Nets? Yes, and that includes Boki. If he's so awesome, why can't I think of a single player on our roster (except for Novak-- ha!!) that I'd trade for him? I personally don't think 9 ppg is worth a 5-year investment in a guy, but hey.

Now, am I content with the playoff losses? Dude, I'm not content with ANY losses! Well, except the loss of Boki, I guess. And back on topic, I probably won't shed many tears over Novak, either. I hear they give young guys a chance in NJ, though...

i love how you just automatically discount the tmac deal...a "gimme"?

MJ for rafer. thats fair, but it was the GM who wouldnt give in to MJ's demands. but of course that was because of JVG, right?

gave up roy for battier? thats a huge assumption and hardly a guarantee. Let alone something that is all the coaches fault. THe GM could tell guys to tank, fake injuries, etc.

again, you discount the valid aquisition of players and overstate the value of guys like strictland, bowen, etc.

Btw, Deke has been the best backup center in the league. And David wesley was effective for the rockets in his role, age caught up to him but hardly bad. Especially after they had one of the best records after he was aquired that year.

screw it. why am i even bothering offering legit counterpoints...im just going to get "wahhhh waahhhhh" in response. :D

Oh yeah.....Novak...right. Was that what this thread was about? I was beginning to think it was another JVG bash thread.

Personally I don't care about Novak or Boki. If they earn the playing time fine, if they don't then thats fine too.

But every player deserves a fair shot to show whether he can make it or not. Something that didn't happen with JVG around. I hated his favoritisms.

BTW, if I recall correctly, Boki was outperforming our entire bench all by himself in last year's playoffs. But yeah, that doesn't count. Eastern Conference and all... yes, yes, If Juwan, Rafer, and luther Head were on the Nets, they would be tearing it apart in the Eastern Conference...like Rafer did when he was on the Raptors, and Juwan when he was on every single Eastern Conference team at one point of his career or another...

It's not Rafer's fault he sucked on the Raptors... the coach wouldn't give him enough playing time to develop!

Ok, now it IS just a JVG bash thread. Can't we just revive the "FIRE GUNDY" thread and keep it all in there?

I am really interested in knowing how JVG gets creidt for Tmac. Please do explain away...

Very convinient of you to ignore how he initially shipped out james for Rafer. And also how he refused to ship out Juwan for James because he was afraid of chemistry issue. Yes, very convenient...

Huge assumption?? *laugh* I believe it was Clutch Headlines at the time. Were you even here? Sorry no assumtions there. JVg let his pride get in way for the greater good of the team. Oh well...it would have only helped him secure his job.

Again, you mean Tmac? Please enlighten me as to how Gundy had to make things happen to make sure Tmac was here.

    So what other players?

And I overstated the value of Strickland and bown? You got it backwards. It was Gundy who over-mis-whatever-stated them. :D

Typical Gundy moves. Short terms. The thing is i wouldnt really have any problem with those moves IF THEY PRODUCED!! So what did they produce? Him getting the boot after Rockets failed to make the second round of playoffs despite high hopes.

    Where are the "legit" counterpoints?

That's right. Stick to your Waaa waahhhh :D

I hope you all are proud of yourselves. You took a perfectly good thread discussing the likelihood of Novak's ability to make the team and what benefits he has versus what we would have to give up to keep him...

and made it a freaking "Why I hate JVG" thread.

all of you need to grow up and quit whining about things that A: you can't change and B: don't belong in this thread.

Sigh (mods I am sorry but I had to vent)

Novak has an ability that will get him on the court somewhere. He has the opportunity to contribute if he gets time to develop, but the likelihood that he would do so here, under Adelman with this deep of a lineup is slim to none.

I thank you to leave JVG out of this discussion.

Get in line and wait for your turn!!!

    You are customer # 37564876.

PS. Novak is a great guy but a softy cone. Unless he toughens up, he is not going to get minutes. Especially not on a team already loaded with talent.

We dont have enough roster spots for the likes of Zan Taback and Pete Chilcutt to waste.

(I actually liked Chilcutt! He contributed against the Mailman in playoff series against the Jazz in 95!)

Yes. Nachbar is a nice finisher on the break. Head finishes too. I don't see a difference here, unless you are trying to make Nachbar into a 1-on-1 off the dribble player. I would love to make him into that kind of a player - if I were playing against him.
