You could say that JVG is right of playing the guys he thinks will get him a win NOW, but you could also interpret that as he being short sight.

We all understand this team is built to win now, since TMac probably only has a couple good years left, Yao may have a few more, but what about past few years when team/player development should be part of the future plan? Looking at the young talent of the other teams, the Jazz, the Suns, the Mavs, you have to wonder what kind of player/talent we'll put on the floor once Yao is over his peak in a few years. This is not entirely JVG's fault, but his unwillingness to develop the young player greatly contribute to this cause.

Should JVG be worried about developing talent for the future? This is the real question I want to pose to you guys on the board. We seem to have this mindset that we want to win and we want to develop these "super awesome sweet shooting never missing making perfect pass" rookies. Well...to be honest, I can't see that happening. Teams that are able to develop young talent while winning have the luxury of core that has been around for a while, that has chemistry, and that can perform at their peak together already. We, however, do not have that luxury. If we are truly serious about winning now, then we really need to put the developing rookies portion of the franchise off for now. While I do realize it is necessary to develop young talent so that in later years, we have a core to rely upon, we need to, as many have stated here before, develop a core that is able to perform well. So in response to your post, he is not being short-sighted. He is doing exactly what he has been asked to do, which is to win now rather than try to develop talent. Management knows we have a small window when both T-Mac and Yao can perform at the level they are performing now.

For the love of God! JVG needs to get his head out of his a** and play Novak. Thanks to Uprising, I finally watched the grizzlies/rox game and JHo and Padgett were absolutely HORRID!!!! No defense, 2 steps slow on every play, horrible shooting. Novak's time has come, put him in coach, let him help the team. Novak's defensive skills actually come from his ability to shoot the ball. What I mean by that is, when a guy like Novak is stroking 3 after 3 after 3, it just demoralizes the other team, it sucks the life out of them and puts it in their psyche that no matter what they do on the offensive end, it won't matter.

I really believe that Novak could become a special player in the league, he just needs a chance.
