For one thing, Moochie surely will liven up the locker room, if not the Toyota center audience. He has a cheerful personality that this club sorely needs.
Watching Mooch played in New York, and watched AB played in here, IMO AB is better and quicker and makes better decision with the ball.
I loved the fro, I loved his personality, but besides a couple of game winning shots, Norris was a bust on the court. He thought he was Steve Francis, not; he did become a turnover machine. I can't believe JVG would even play him. Hopefully, he can be a cheerleader on the bench. Some of you have forgotten how poorly he played. He was just awful.
Moochie is probably on his last contract in the NBA. He will still be a rich man, so I do not feel sorry for him. He seems like a nice guy, but I hope he does not get many minutes with the Rockets. (Same for Baker, by the way.)
When we have a decent lead at the end of game, Moochie might be useful as long as he takes care the ball. He can dribble out the first 18' of the clock. One thing I noted about Tmac and Wesley is that they takes quick shots even in those situations.
Cheerful?....thats the last thing we need. What we really need is some attitude on the court and someone to start biach-slappin' the other teams, kinda like Bob Sura.
Moochie showed lots of class and maturity in the report. I cannot even believe I am saying that about Moochie. Hopefully that translates into on-the-court tangible positive performance. We do not really need much from him playing behind James especially putting into perspective what Strickland and Barret gave to us. Moochie can spot up and shoot and he is familiar with Yao. It is not like he is going to be hugging the ball anymore at least I believe he has learnt his lesson on that. Wishing him the best and a better ride that his last year here. Kudos Mooch.
dude no. please don't do that. just excute the plays. make timley passes to Mcgrady curling off the baseline. don't turn the ball over. get into the sets quick. don't dribble the ball forever. the last thing we want is you to just play your game.
I've seen Moochie play on the Knicks a number of times and he's still considered a bit of a joke by fans in NY. Having said that, no one is expecting him to take over games or anything. He's a good guy and a fun person to have around I suppose. It's all about the salary not getting another point guard, so I think Houston did really well in the trade. I think he and the fans/Yao got along great as well, so it's nice to have the Mooch back from that perspective.
LOL you guys are making me crack up. I'm happy for Moochie and I hope this time around he can learn to play like a real PG - get us quickly into our sets - protect the ball (no fancy passes) - hit the open shot (something Rod and AB cant do) - play tough defense thats all im wanting.. and I wonder if NYK fans are cracking up we took Moochie back. J
Some of you guys are such glass-is-half-empty types. We know that Van Gundy likes to keep 3 point guards active on the roster. Even when Sura comes back, Moochie has a good shot at becoming our 3rd point guard, and getting some minutes. All he has to do is beat out Barrett, which he is definately capable of. I also think that Vin Baker has a chance of replacing Spoon in the rotation. He's definately a more natural third center than Spoon or Howard are. There's a chance that both of these players will make an impact on the team this year, so lets not write them off until JVG gets a chance to see what they can do.
OH MY GOD! PLEASE, MAKE THE HATIN' AND NEGATIVE TREATMENT TOWARDS MOOCHIE STOP! As I've said in the "Mo Taylor Traded!" thread, He's a good guy and he doesn't deserve the treatment he gets around here, YET! It's a new leaf now - when he starts to mess up bad on court, then you should complain. Until then, stop thinking about the past and give him a chance. You would want the same. If you go to a game and scream harsh things at him before he starts to play poorly, then you are an ***hole who needs to look inside yourself and see what a nice guy you are. Remember, he is a Rocket we should be supportive of all our players. If he dribbles the ball out and messes up the offense and plays ill-advised, then I will be complaining about him, too. Right now, I think he can contribute and will support him until he is detrimental to the team's success.
Good points, even though this trade was mostly about salaries, we may have also upgraded the team. If Mooch and Baker can beat out Barrett and Spoon that will be an unexpected bonus, this won't affect the bottom line of wins/losses because Spoon and AB don't play enough minutes to materially impact a game but it would be nice none the less. I think there may be a lot of upside with Baker, he was playing well with Boston before his incident and has stayed clean in NY, he needs to start by bringing it in practice, show his rb ability and toughness and then into reall games. Vin really has a good situation here, he could dethrone Deke as the backup center, be that big banger at the PF that we have been wanting and have an opportunity to be on championship team..We can only hope.
