No, I don't need my ego stroked cause if I did then I would fall in line with all the other JVG lovers here and hop on his bandwagon to receive their praise instead of getting blasted here all the time. Athletes are however different and are very ego driven and like to read their own press clippings and stuff. Also, the sports world I'm talking about was strictly related to a players/coach dynamic as any other job behind the scenes would most likely be very similar to the corporate world.

Uhhhhh, don't all coaches do this? What makes JVG so damn special?

Man, JVG could give a basket of puppies to orphan children, and I swear you'd still try to put a negative spin on it. Rudy T is gone. Let it go.

All this regular season success aside, if we don't at least get to the second round and play well I could see JVG not getting renewed. I think losing to any team but Phoenix or Dallas in the playoffs is going to equal failure to management.

This team was built to win a championship now. Moral victories will not be accepted by Les or by management IMO.

Exactly. JVG's contract extension rests solely on his playoff success. Just look at marty in san diego. 14-2 team, but bounced early so he got fired. Regular season wins are nice, but it's all about the playoffs.

JVG is one of the best coaches in this league. – Yet, for this to be considered a successful year we have to get out of the first round. I think that should be how the future of the coaching staff should really be critiqued this year. The talent is there between the big two, though I concede much sooner than others when we start thinking past the second round.

Yao and Tracy are awesome but the supporting cast is a few hairs above mediocrity. We'll probably need a third wheel before we can be considered a championship team. I just hope people realize that before we exit the playoffs so it will save us a few hundred anti-Gundy diatribes. This team is only where it’s at because of the attention to detail on the defensive side.

Some of the best coaches in the game could also be confused with as manipulators. Phil Jackson never attempts to light a fire under spare parts when he thinks they're playing like garbage? Greg Poppovich isn't outstanding in some of the things he has said about his crew over the years, right? Certainly, he couldn’t be confused with going after players.

BTW- Whatever your opinion of how Yao is treated you have to admit the staff has done a superb job with bringing him along. I believe that the player has to accept responsibility for that but it’s not like Jeff and company sat on their hands waiting for #11 to become the most dominant big man in the game. It never ceases to amaze me when people go after this coaching staff for not developing players.

It’s interesting that in spite of a lot of the good that JVG is responsible for he still gets a bum rap because people dig down for the most absurd, and obscure inconsistency available.

Hey, gosh, that's super, but you still haven't convinced me or made the connection that getting your ego stroked means that you automatically have to like the one who's doing the ego stroking. (If your hypothesis was true, men would score with women all the time in bars.)

Are you referring to the Red Rowdies. J/K I love you Rowdies. Just don't ever refer to JVG as Daddy Dearest ;)

Yes it's so true moral victories will not be accepted and it's certainly due. If JVG makes it to west finals then so be it give him another to complete the job. If not adios.
