I agree with Donny. The college overtime rules are so much better. Games shouldn't be determined based on a coin flip.

More football for us, more money for the NFL in ads.

Sounds like a win-win to me.

We're not talking about feasibility here, we're just talking about what the best system would be.

A coin flip shouldn't be part of overtime, period.

    You know that is disingenuous.

Two teams with bad defenses and killer offenses go into overtime.

Guess who is going to win...

Can we please stop acting like NFL overtime is 100% fair?

High scoring game where defenses really can't stop the offense. In overtime, the coin flip really does decide the game.

The NFL season is too long to have teams go through extended overtimes that can drag on for another 2 hours.

The only thing I truly hated about NFL overtime was the coin toss being so pivotal to the outcome of the game and they've addressed that.

What is 100% fair? What if one team is built to be a special teams monster with a great return game and a great defense. You go to college overtime and you hurt them. Think the Ravens would have liked college overtime? Take Jermaine Lewis and Matt Stover out of the equation?

If they want "fair" they need to win the game in four quarters. If they can't do that, then they have to nut up in overtime. Still, there is hardly a statistical basis for the idea that the team that wins the toss is going to win on the first possession.

Please, as if any team has ever relied on its kickoff return game to win them games.

You're grasping at obscure references that are the exception, rather than the rule, to support this argument.

I'd say Devin Hester with Chicago (at least the ONE year he was tearing it up) would be a more apt example. And even then, the kicker is still a HUGE part of the college overtime game in field goals.

You can't say "well this system isn't perfect either, so stick with this, even though it sucks more!".

College overtime is the best system there is for football.

Sorry, but a 10% difference is pretty huge for a sample size that big. And it indicates a clear advantage. It may not be GIGANTIC. But it exists, and there is no denying it.

NFL overtime sucks, it just sucks a little less now.

So 75% of the time both teams get the ball anyway.

Let's just reverse the rule about the kickoff and get back to where there was no value in winning the coin toss and then we can all be happy.

Also, who likes the idea of a 4 day draft with 1st and 2nd rounds in Thursday/Friday night primetime?

Seems like another obvious milking the teat ploy by the NFL.

Yep... but, people will still watch.

What are we upto now? 20 minutes between picks or some ridiculous crap?

    Still 15.

I just preferred to sit down on Saturday and watch the draft for 8 mindless hours and scream profanities at my TV when Al Davis drafts a double amputee who runs a 4.3 40.

Always one of the highlights of the year.

My feelings now as opposed to when the pick was made have not changed.

He's an awful, awful wide receiver and will go down with the likes of Charles Rogers, Mike Williams, Rashaun Woods, Peter Warrick and RJ Soward as colossal first round busts.

The kid didn't even put up great numbers in college. He will never have success in this league, but any GM with a partially functioning brain knew that.

I feel bad for the kid because he seems like a good guy with a decent head on his shoulders, but based on what he's shown in 1 year it will take a miracle for him to develop into even an average wideout.

I'm still more depressed that Darren McFadden hasn't been able to show much. He still makes mind-boggling runs in training camps and puts on a show in preseason games and then gets some nagging injury that keeps him slowed down during the regular season.

Wouldn't be surprised if Bruce Gradkowski, Michael Bush and Louis Murphy are the starters next year when Russell, McFadden and Nefarious Heyward-Bey went #1, overall #5 overall and #7 overall respectively in their drafts.

    Now thats just sad.

I've always thought Michael Bush would end up kicking some serious ass for a team after he got away from the Raiders.

Hypothetical, suppose you had the opening drive in overtime, and you had 4th and goal at the 3 yard line. Kick FG or go for the touchdown? Suppose it's the 1 yard line?

TBH I'd prefer the college overtime and would use it for the NFL if they moved the ball back to the 50 yard line rather than the 25.

People forget that Michael Bush was tearing asses up at Louisville and was a Heisman front-runner before breaking his leg so bad it took 2 years for him to get back on a football field. He's a power back with bowling ball legs and deceptive speed for a 6-1, 245 pound back.

Bush puts up pretty decent numbers in Oakland, just wasn't ever really given a chance to start. With Justin Fargas now out of the picture, they are going to commit to one guy as the starter and I don't see why they wouldn't make it him. If they actually find a decent left tackle in this draft (not holding my breath) they could have a pretty good running game.

McFadden has showed he isn't capable enough health-wise to handle a full load of carries. He's better suited in a Reggie Bush-style role and in the wildcat.

I remember seeing him as a Freshman or Sophmore the last time Louisville played the Cougars.

    Man, he was a specimen.

I've never seen somebody that big run like that.

Way underrated. When is his contract up?

Kubiak should call up Al and trade Jacoby Jones for him and a 1st rounder.

That would be pretty good payback for the time we gladly took your third round pick for Phillip Buchanon (which turned out to be current leading tackler Kirk Morrison)

Oh the flaming I took over that. "Shut up bitter Raiders fan, Buchanon and Dunta Robinson will lock up our CB situation for the next 10 years"

Buchanon was just the Antonio Cromartie of his time. Everyone too busy watching his electric touchdown returns to notice he's one of the worst cover corners in the league.

He once got beat on a fly route by Lions Fullback Corey Schlesinger. Yup. Corey ****ing Schlesinger.
