And neither did that game in 2008. Player was incorrectly called for a foul and affected who could play in the remaining portion of the game. Same thing here. If they replayed the end of that game, then the last 3 minutes plus of this game should be replayed. If they don't do it, it's obvious BIAS, if not plain out right CORRUPTION!
It's an NBA rule that they will do nothing unless and until the Rockets file a protest. Feigen says we have less than 24 more hours to do so. I don't think something like this happens often, and in the past the NBA has indeed replayed a portion of a game to resolve the mistake of assessing a foul to the wrong person, resulting in someone either being falsely ejected for fouling out or not when he should have.
Also, does anyone know if Morey or the Rockets filed a FORMAL PROTEST yet? I know that Morey said he had the league looking into it, but did they file a FORMAL PROTEST or not? If they don't, I will be pissed!
I hate the idea of replaying, but if there's justification for the rule then this is it. Literally some of the worst officiating I've ever seen in a game. If I worked for the NBA, it'd be extreme damage control takes now. This was embarrassing. SIL
Why is that? It is clearly 100% wrong. The charged Lou with the foul even though he was nowhere near the play. This call did affect the game since the player that should have been charged would have fouled out. If this was something subjective I'd agree...but this is not. Lou did not foul, he wasn't even in the lane lol, the ref made a clear mistake that everyone can see and say with 100% certainty that he messed up.
Agreed, they shouldn't cry, that's never a correct way to dispute being wronged.....they shouldn't ignore it though. The NBA needs to be called to task when their officials are incompetent on this level.
The problem with this isn't that the guy got to play tho... the problem is the effect the bogus calls cause. I.e. 3 techs..... But even before that I notice them letting Evans play Harden really physical and really handsy at the half.... I could see that happening a mile away..... The clippers were not playing good defense either.... they were playing illegal defense for most of the 2nd half and only got called once..... and it was even hidden
nba games or part thereof shouldn't be replayed..it would have opened a whole can of worms...just go on and play good basketball, dont have slow starts, play hard 48 minutes
3 points game after the foul and Harden FT. If the Rocket didn't protest, how did the NBA review and noted this mistake? I said, replay the last 3 mins.
okay so teams depleted by injuries who start slow and don't play hard for all 48 minutes deserve to be blatantly cheated by referees
The can of worm that is opened is, making the correct calls are important, especially when dealing with fouling out a player or not. Precedent has already been set with Shaq. Maybe the NBA should change the rule and not ever foul anyone out, but have some penalty when that player commit additional foul.
you should replay every game then because in every single nba game there's a similar mistake... foul not called, or called undeservingly or otherwise blatantly incorrect calls resulting in points or possessions deduced or undeservingly added to a team directly influencing the outcome of the game
That would not be a bad idea. Assess a technical foul and let the player keep playing. As an NBA fan, I've hated the few times that a really good player has fouled out of the last few minutes of a great game. I know it doesn't happen that often, but it sucks when it does.
its impossible to get all calls correctly...dont bother with it spending valuable energy...just play good basketball for 48 minutes and do not play down to competition and you will win every time
Toronto filed a complaint when the refs didn't bother to fix the clock and the game finished earlier in a close game thriller, and the league didn't bother to do anything. And that back then had created huge outrage in social media, not like now that only rockets fans care and talk about it. Precedent doesn't matter. What matters is if you are the Lakers or maybe GSW.
