For comparison, here are other backup centers and how much they are getting paid this year. (Sorry no graph)

    Brendan Haywood: 7mil for 4ppg 4rpg

    Chris Andersen: 4mil for 4ppg 5rpg

    Zaza Pachulia: 4mil for 4ppg 4rpg

    Nick Collison: 13mil for 4ppg 4rpg

    Marcin Gortat(ORL): 6mil for 4ppg 5rpg

    Samuel Dalembert: 13 mil for 6ppg 6rpg

    Mehmet Okur: 10mil for 5ppg 2rpg

    Tiago Splitter: 3mil for 4ppg 3rpg

So Miller's contract is really on par with those of other backup centers. His veteran leadership is also very valuable on this team.

...because people have seen the Rocket's success going small and want to emulate it?

Asik for Lee is interesting, but I think we should get more. Asik shows potential, but will take some more time to really develop. Plus, they'd essentially be trading their third string center for a starting shooting guard they desperately need.

Good to hear the Nuggets are open to dealing us Nene.

I predict the Rockets will end up with Brooke Lopez and Stephen Curry.

nice cherry-picking here, I see you are quite the expert in providing forward convincing evidence...

however I've got some shady secrets to present together with you...

Dwight Howard 15 million for 23 points 15 rebounds

    demarcus cousins 3 million 14 ppg 8rpg..

    kendrick perkins..

    nene...

    noah...

    deandre jordan...

and the list goes on and on...

    Wow....

That has to be one of the most moronic posts I've read on this board.

You responded to his post about backups by listing starters including Dwight Howard and his max contract and 3 players on their rookie contracts.

    Dwight Howard

I like this quote, and I think its going to be exactly what the rockets will do at the trade deadline..

With the recent willingness of Anthony to sign an extension with Denver, it has removed Nene from the trading block.. and trading for any other vet center is really pointless at this point..

So unproven young center's IMO is the best course of action. Here's a list of YOUNG center's that aren't getting much playing time, but could develop into a starting center just like DeAndre Jordan did..

    Cole Aldrich
    Hassan Whiteside
    Hasheem Thabeet
    Krylo Fesenko
    Omar Asik
    B.J. Mullens
    Kosta Koufos

Asik is a solid defensive center, good rebounder, change shots, plays really hard, rotates appropiately. Don't expect much of him offensively. I think offensively Erden (Boston) shows a better mobility right now, both of them lack some touch around the basket, and are terrible -FT- shooters. Erden played better at the FIBA World Chps. last summer, Asik did a much better tournament in 2009 at the Eurobasket of Spain.

Anyway, Asik is the starter for a reason, he's solid, he's more competitive, a better rebounder, he can be a presence. Very good frame, nice length and good defensive awareness. Offensively, he's struggling with the NBA speed, I don't think he will ever be a sound offensive player, but he has good hands, a good awareness and dunks quite often. Needs to be developed as Gortat was.

Could be a very good option, relatively cheap. But right now he's much more a good backup center than a starter.

A three way deal with the Knicks and Denver makes perfect sense. We give the Knicks their pick/option back, so that they can send their 2011 and 2013 pick to Denver, and we get Nene as part of a package (with other players involved, of course).

I'm pretty sure we'll be acquiring another PF.
