Haslem is not that good. He barely have 10pts per game, and that's his best season. His rebounding is pretty good, but that's barely more than Juwan's. I say Haslem is good for Rafer, but that's it.

The Rockets's weakness is obviously the PF position last year. When they put Chuck and Rafer out there, teams are just licking their chops to exploit. They would send players that are supposed to guard these players to double Yao.

I think Haslam is an upgrade over Hayes in height and the ability to shoot...that's very important. I would do this trade:

Rafer+Hayes for Haslam OR just Rafer+JLIII for Haslam

I still want to keep Head because he's one of the best shooters in the league.

    here's the thing:

haslem would be a perfect fit. but are we willing to OVERPAY for it?

foster would be a poor mans' haslem. he does everything haslem does except hitting mid-range jumpers. his price is lower, meaning we don't have to sell the farm for him.

you can overpay for advil or you can buy ibuprofen. guess what, the main ingredient in advil is?

don't overpay for the name when you can get the exact same thing for less.

But in the end, wouldn't the Rockets still be facing the same problem as they did last season, aka people doubling Yao and leaving Foster alone?

But what if Scola has been brought here with the promise that he is the starting Power Forward of the Houston Rockets? Would the Rockets go back on their word AGAIN! :p

foster is a better rebounder than haslem.
we alredy have too much firepower on the floor.
foster doesn't need to take any shots off yao/mcgrady et al.
and if we need offense at the 4,
that's what scola is here for.

I would be ok with Foster provided we retain Hayes as well because of Foster's height and Hayes's quickness. I like Haslem more than Foster but
I don't want to overpay for him.

I've said it through my statistics and I'll say it again. HASLEM IS NOT A GOOD REBOUNDER OR A DEFENDER! HE'S ONLY MARGINALLY BETTER ON OFFENSE THAN SCOLA + HAYES BUT WE DON'T NEED SCORING FROM THE PF POSITION SO WHY THE F ARE WE INTERESTED IN HIM?

LOL @ thinking hayes is better than Haslem.....get real. stats do not tell the whole story and hayes is huge liability on BOTH ends of the floor. haslem has more size and is a better defender against the top PFs in the league. offensively, c'mon, its not even close. chuck can't even catch passes and he can barely make layups. chuck hustles and thats nice and all, but this guy is NOT the answer at PF for us. we cannot have someone 6'6 at PF who can't do anything on offense and expect to beat teams like utah.

I would trade Rafer, Head, Hayes and 2nd rounder for Haslem. It clears the logjam at the guard positions and we get a bigger Hayes with shooting touch

You people are so quick to dismiss statistics if it doesn't agree with your perception.

FACT - Hayes is a better rebounder than Haslem.
FACT - Hayes is a better defender than Haslem. You're not going to convince me that he isn't. Say what you want about DCS, a difference between 91 and 39 is more than enough evidence. Also, all defensive statistics, and I mean every single one that is significant, indicates as such. You can say all you want about how you think he's a good defender based on five to six games you saw from him but he's not a good defender.

FACT - We need rebounding and defense from the PF position. Not scoring. No not even midrange scoring which Haslem is overrated on anyways.

WHY SHOULD WE TRADE FOR HIM?

    ok Dwight Schrute

    FACT- STATs aren't everything.

FICTION- Wolves are better at scavenging than black bears.

No, they're not everything. But they tell you more than what you perceive because of the lack of bias and arrogance.

Foster ain't coming here after Indiana signed Diener to fill their backup PG needs.

The deal for Haslem is probably held up by the Wizards trading Navarro to the Heat. The Wizards are trying to attach a bad contract to the deal. If this goes through, then we are left with Seattle, who is shopping Collison.

Unless, Morey has another one of those longshot trades from out of nowhere for a big guy that nobody knew was available. :D

Wow, I just went to get a haircut and this thread has grown by five pages.

I was really excited about the possibility of Amir Johnson -- tall, athletic with potential and with some experience -- and young enough to accept a backup role to Scola. That's the type of PF we need. Finding another opportunity like that one is tough -- we really have to get a player some team has stashed in the Euro leagues or NBDL. Of course, had we been able to acquire Johnson, we would never have acquired Scola.

I wonder if Indiana would part with Troy Murphy? He really is too slow (and too expensive) for what Adelman is doing but hey.

    Ha, Ha! Thats great!

In all seriousness though, I dont see Miami in a hurry to trade Haslem for our leftover garbage. Yes, Alston is garbage to many other teams, not just us. Morey has surprised me this offseason, but Alston, Lucas, etc.. isnt going to get it done IMO.

Morey, prove me wrong? That'd be neat :D

I thought you all wanted a shot blocker and rebounder?

Now you just want a rebounder?

No to Murphy, he bulked up way too much and now he's too fat and slow to be the offensive player that he once was. And he was never much of a defender to begin with.
