Of course, its all crying in our wine, but I would have rather kept someone tight on Okur and continually fouled Boozer hard. Hitting 70% of 2 free throws is much better than the 50% 3 pointers and 50% 2 pointers they were hitting us with. In addition, it would have frustrated Boozer and maybe tired him a bit. I liked JVG, but thought he was a poor bench coach. Oh well, past life, wrong thread. Go New and Improved Rockets!
i am not ready to give up on novak, do the lucus to hornets for 2nd rounder, give rafer to the heat along with ?? (not novak) for haslem.
Yao was hacked at least 20 times a game!! The unfortunate thing is that the Refs just call a few of them!
I checked that trade on Realgm, and it works. Houston Trade Breakdown Outgoing Steve Novak 6-9 SF from Marquette 1.5 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.2 apg in 5.5 minutes Rafer Alston 6-2 PG from Frenso State 13.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 5.4 apg in 37.0 minutes Incoming Udonis Haslem 6-8 PF from Florida 10.7 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 1.2 apg in 31.5 minutes Change in team outlook: -4.1 ppg, +4.2 rpg, and -4.4 apg. Miami Trade Breakdown Outgoing Udonis Haslem 6-8 PF from Florida 10.7 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 1.2 apg in 31.5 minutes Incoming Steve Novak 6-9 SF from Marquette 1.5 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.2 apg in 5.5 minutes Rafer Alston 6-2 PG from Frenso State 13.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 5.4 apg in 37.0 minutes Change in team outlook: +4.1 ppg, -4.2 rpg, and +4.4 apg.
Well, come on, Denniscd! Our teams fate lies in your hands... In all seriousness, has anyone heard any more about this from a source not calling itself The Houston Chronicle?
They did just lose Kopono who was their best shooter, so this is actually a plausible trade. I think Haslem would be pissed though, didn't he take less money to stay in Miami? He still be joining a contender but if his loyalty is repaid with being traded to H-Town I could see him sulking.
Here is some information on Miami's deal for Navarro posted on July 20th. If Memphis gets Navarro, Miami will probably go for Alston. Washington Post Blog Will Miami step up for Navarro? It will be interesting to see what Pat Riley does now that Steve Francis chose to sign with Houston rather than Miami. It's no secret that Riley is near desperate to add a playmaking guard with Gary Payton entering retirement and Jason Kapono now a member of the Toronto Raptors. Riley made a strong pitch to Mo Williams but he took more money to stay in Milwaukee and now Francis is off the board as well. The market is getting tight. So, the question is: how badly does Riley want Juan Carlos Navarro and what is he willing to give up for him? I've heard that Miami has called offering a combination of draft picks but I have no idea what kind of picks they are. Would a first and second get it done? And even if Riley makes a sexy offer, does Ernie Grunfeld really want to help a division rival by handing over an experienced scorer who will also have a chip on his shoulder whenever the Heat comes to town? The wild card in all of this continues to be Memphis. I hear that Pau Gasol has all but demanded that the Grizz do whatever it takes to get JNC
Good find. Clearly Rafer isn't Miami's first choice, so if the alternatives are gone, the Heat might make a desperate move, kind of like when the Rockets had to deal with Bob Sura's declining health and made a desperate move and delt James for Rafer.
what the hell does jason kapono going to toronto have anything to do with needing a playmaking guard??
Well, Navarro is more of a shooting guard than a point guard, so I really don't know what the Heat are looking for.
Apparently, another case of a stupid media person trying to pretend they watch enough basketball to know anything. Kapono is not even close to a playmaking guard.
No it doesn't, actually. Alston, Snyder, Novak and a 1st round pick would be overpaying for Haslem, especially since we have already improved our situation at PF. We should give up less than that (e.g. no 1st round pick) or be patient and look elsewhere if that is what Miami is demanding from us.
Your math is wrong. Hitting 70% free throws if much better than hitting 50% field goals. Plus you are putting your players in foul trouble.
Okur was horrible on offense for most of the series. Keeping someone on him wasnt a huge concern with the way he shot in all but one or two games against us. Also your hack a Boozer plan wouldnt be smart because not only does he shoot free throws but they Jazz would be in the penalty in no time. Therefore as anyone had the ball and drove to the basket and got fouled they would have gotten free throws as well. Tmac also shot about 70 percent from the line. Doesnt mean you foul him constantly to keep him from setting up the rockets offense.
