I think Head has value to a team like Miami, because their 3pt threat from last season (Jason Kapono) left and Head would fill that viod for them and maybe Pat Riley can turn Head into something more then a 3pt shooter. I'm still in the camp of getting Haslem because noone can doubt that having Haslem and Chuck on the same team can be bad. I'm not too sure on Foster, his rebounding stats look impressive but does he have any offensive? Is he a good defender? But I wouldn't put my hopes on getting Foster because I haven't seen any news story the Morey and co are looking at him or even like him but they did pull out the Scola trade from out of nowhere and that's the only way I can see a deal for Foster happening.
If we can get Haslem and only given back-ups, do it. Oh, and for those of you that don't know about Scola... http://www.usabasketball.com/seniormen/2004/04_moly7_box.html
Lol. I did not think you were a kid until that come back you just laid out there. But maybe 8 is a little old. Anyways, I do not know why we got on a topic of Luther Head compared to BigShot Rob when other than shooting their games are completly diffrent.
I agree, I wouldn't drool over Haslem. I would look at it as getting something usable for something we really don't need (have excess of). If they would take Alston, Head, and a lesser filler player I would still do it. Essentially, you are getting a decent player AND clearing out some roster space. However, I'm not sure where all of these moves put us in the West pecking order. San Antonio, Dallas, and Phoenix are still great. I think we might be closer to breaking into that top three, but not sure we are over the top.
Yea, 10 points and 4 rebounds isnt much, but hes facing nba superstars. He will face a Boozer or Garnett here and there, but talent wise, never face anything like the USA team they beat. Too me 10 and 4 against nba all-stars is encouraging. Ginobili was their star on the team anyway.
So, the official heights of NBA players...are they with shoes or without shoes? For example Shaq listed at 7'1" and Yao at 7'6"...is that with shoes or without? What are all of the power forwards real height (Scola, Haslem, Landry, Foster)? Because I read that Scola was 6' 9 1/2" without shoes and Landry was 6'7" without shoes.....and there have been differeing reports on Haslem's height..he's been anywhere from 6'8" to 6'9" or 6'10". It makes quite a difference.....they used to give Hakeem two more inches than he really was.
Pre-draft camp measurements: http://www.imagineinteriors.ca/private/nbaplayerheights.htm Udonis Haslem, 6-6¾ (without shoes), 6-7¾ (with shoes) Chuck Hayes, 6-5½ (without shoes), 6-6¾ (with shoes)
the main reason in getting Haslem is insurance for A. Injuries B. If Scola isn't good enough to start C. Championship experience Haslem is a big upgrade over Chuck Hayes, and I like Chuck.
The heights are as stated by Yetti. Their wingspan are identical at 6'10''. Chuck's standing reach is 8'8.5''. Haslem's is 8'10''.
So, what's Scola's real height? I read he was 6'91/2 without shoes....does that mean that he would be 6'11" with shoes standing next to the 6'8" Haslem without shoes (6'6 1/2 without shoes)?
haslem... now there's a legit PF. all the jeff foster talk was making me ill. if we get haslem (especially if it's for our garbage), hands down this has to be one of the best offseaons any team has ever had.
I would be more inclined to believe this was a possibility if there had been more rumblings than a "mention" at the bottom of an article in a hometown newspaper. Id like to see it, but dont feel it will make or break us. Not really drinking the Haslem kool-aid. I will take him for Alston and filler, but would like to keep Luther. I know that sounds greedy, but when you get Mike James, Scola, Butler, and Steve Francis for Juwan Howard, Spanoulis, and a 2nd rounder, you tend to get a little greedy, lol. Liking the way Morey is doing things and it would appear Les has told him to do what it takes to make us a winner this season.
Adding a PROVEN solid 11/8 guy at the PF position is exactly what we need. He's a good defender with the wingspan (I've found that it is close to 6'11'') needed to guard the bigger PFs. Standing around 6'8'' to 6'9'' he would give us more size up front than Hayes had to offer, and he is a proven NBA player, unlike Scola. He has a good mid-range jump shot, good defender, and a pretty good rebounder. He is also a great pick and roll guy. I'd love to see him in Adelman's system. I think he is a perfect fit. Make it happen, Morey.
Do you have a link to that? He would be listed at 6'11" for official NBA profile. He would be able to backup Yao at C, if true that makes the trade even better.
