Horry was never a SG. Man, all you do is watch SportsCenter or something. Horry is so much more than just Big Shot Bob. This conversation just became pointless.
I would like to see what Hermann can do in a rockets uni, but mark jackson and songaila??? gimme a break...
Head is just a 2nd year rookie, he can still develop, go back and look at Horry and Mobley's 2nd year, they weren't nearly as good as they were now.
My god, you really have problem understanding.. I said an Robert Horry type of player at the SG spot, I didn't say Robert Horry play the SG spot.. Just like saying a Battier type of player at the PG spot.. Was that so hard to understand?..
You give me a break. Songalia is a similar player to Haslem with much better mid-range shooting skills and he is also younger with a much smaller contract. He also played under Adelman in Sacramento. Marc Jackson is an excellent, big-bodied frontcourt player who can also shoot mid-range much better than Haslem. Either of those players would do more for the Rockets than Haslem. Marc Jackson may be old but he may also be the best fit for the Rockets among all these guys. At least we agree on Hermann. Another one of the Argentinian quartet with a skill set that would make Adelman drool. Too bad we won't be able to get him.
There is almost nothing to compare between the 2 players. All you are focused on is 3pt shooting. You don't see the big picture. Later dude.
And, it is too hard to understand because nobody compares combo guards to PFs. It is too hard to understand because you are out in left field now drawing awkward comparisons that don't make sense...
You can't necessarily make the argument that because Players A and B did this (e.g. improve) that Player C can do the same. If you want to make comparisons like that, there is an infinite set of possible arguments. You have to look at the individual mostly based on his individual abilities. Head has one strength and about 5 glaring weaknesses. Head will never be a starter and I doubt he will have a long NBA career. I give him 2 more seasons before he is overseas.
Did you really just support the first weak argument with "like saying a Battier type of player at the PG spot"? Senseless, totally senseless.
You are getting funny now, Robert Horry is known for his 3 point shooting and clutchness, how can you say there is nothing to compare between the two?.. I really think you should open your heart more for other ppl's opinion, just open your eyes, you will see much more..
I am not comparing the position they are playing, I am comparing the skill sets they offer, why is that so hard for you to understand? You are making fun of yourself right now.
Hell yeah, every player has their weakness, I wouldn't just focus on that.. The question though, could their strength outweight their weakness for a particular team..
Open my heart? Did you really just say that too? Head did show signs of hitting clutch shots over his first few seasons. I will give you that. However, Horry did that too while providing countless other assets to his teams, especially earlier in his career. Horry was more known for his defensive, rebounding and IQ when he entered the league. Head not only doesn't do other things well, he is actually terrible at most other aspects of basketball in comparison to others at his position. Head got playing time because our team lacked depth. This is the same reason Hayes got to play so much right out of the D-League. Also, you can't compare Horry's game near his retirement to Head's game heading into the prime of his career. Even if you do, Horry is too different of a player and much better as an all-around player. Head is overseas in 2 years.
Head didn't outweigh his weaknesses though. He doesn't and he won't outweigh them either. Head has a huge set of weaknesses not just one or two that are outweighed by others, or in his case, the other skill. Head only got playing time because of the team he was playing for and you will see this point proven next season and the one after that, right before Head signs with some Euro team.
Hell yea, you are right. Every player has their weaknesses. Head just has many more. You are beating this argument into the ground and you will see that I am right beginning next season, no matter what team Head is on.
YOU MUST be kidding me. Head compared to horry???????? Horry's 3 point shooting and clutchness in play-off are just amazing. Head choked in last season's play-off(you may argue this, it is his first play-off) Horry's defense is far superior to head's defense. Horry has high BB IQ, while head has a low one.
Rockets.com and Draftexpress have the identical numbers for Landry. Both say he is 6' 8 1/2" in shoes which is basically 6'9". Rockets got their mesurements from their own independent interview while the numbers on draftexpress came from the combine prior to the draft. Since they are two seperate sources that have the same measurements I am inclined to believe that Landry is in fact...6' 8 1/2" tall. http://www.draftexpress.com/measurements.php?year=2007
I doubt Head would be oversea in 2 years. And I do agree Head did get his playing time due to the lack of depth, but that doesn't make him a inferior player. I was comparing Horry's 3 point shooting did earn him a niche at the Spurs team, so I think Head's 3 point shooting and clutchness could earn him some minutes in the league as well.. Yes, Head isn't as good defensively yet, but that could be learn, once again, Head is just a 2nd year rookie..
