Pollard did the right thing business-wise.

He knew Bush and Co were toast, the next DC would likely not retain him, so why risk getting hurt.

He'll get his payday, and the Texans will move on.

    Everybody wins.

So basically the qualifications for Head Coach of the Texans is "good offense" and "players like him". Excellent.

Oh, and Wade Phillips is clearly the most qualified person out there, despite the fact that we haven't actually talked to anyone or looked who is available.

Holy ****ing ****, that pisses me off!

"In the six games we lost that we should have won we were just so close. We lacked a little leadership on the field, but the players were playing hard, never quit. Sunday they showed a great effort (in the 34-17 win over Jacksonville)."

    **** YOU!

I'm surprised he didn't drop the ole. . . TOUGHEST SCHEDULE IN FOOTBALL
I knew it . .. Kubiak had too many built in excuses
    Suspensions, injuries, tough schedule, etc

Kubiak is a genius. They couldn't use the "****ty defense" excuse last year so he made sure to use it this year. Kubes knew that if the defense was crap, McNair would believe the problem wasn't with him.

I feel the same way. Amazing that a millionaire/billionaire owner of a franchise can be so darn dumb/naive yet I'm seeing it right before my eyes. Amazing.

I would like to echo your(and many others) sentiments: **** YOU Bob!

Yep. There are a bunch of sucky teams that play hard and don't quit on their sucky coaches. Yes, the team quitting on a coach is grounds for dismissal, but a team not quitting on its coach is hardly a reason for retention.

    Kubiak is back.

Pollard rumored to be out. (only avg player in our historically bad secondary)

Atleast for the 2011 season I was never teased

If Mcnair rejoins horseracing, he should name one of his horses, kubes.

If the team honestly picks Wade Phillips as the new DC and then trades Mario...

But I think he actually wants his horses to win.

I had a suspicion midseason that Kubiak was keeping Bush only to scapegoat him in the end of the season. Replacing Bush midseason would put more focus on how Kubiak can't manage a team/staff.

But Kubiak again picks the DC so the chain of idiocy continues. Maybe Smith is scapegoated next.

i think spencer tillman hit the nail on the head, WHO'S IN CHARGE?!?!?

so gary is in charge of interviewing/hiring the dc. gary also fired the def staff. then gary says dc can pick players, so what exactly does smith the gm do?

don't coaches coach and gm's manage?

isn't a gm with no power the same thing as a head coach with too much power? in that case just offer cowher gm and hc.

    Oh. My. God.

I've laid off the personal attacks on McNair until now. I truly think he's lost his mind.

It's unbelievable to me that he's using Sunday's game to judge ANYTHING. The jags were missing their 2 best players! In fact, the last time the Texans have beaten a team with their starting QB was the Chiefs back in Week 6!

The Texans have only beaten 3 teams this year with their starting QB. And they're retaining their head coach. Let that sink in for a minute.

But we're on the right track. We are SO CLOSE....

This is why I have been reluctant to throw Rubberstamp Smith under the bus.
Because I have little indication that he is good or bad . . . It seems he
is just a rubber stamp for what ever Gary wants. He does the boring stuff
    like writing the contracts etc.

    "I want him" - Gary
    "but I don't. . " Rubber Stamp Smith
    "I don't care. . . get it done!"
    "Ok" - Rubber Stamp Smith

Kubiak is in charge. Smith is just his lackey. Kubiak tells Smith what he wants and Smith tries to get it. And he negotiates the contracts. That's about it.
