[Chron] McNair expected to keep Kubiak, hire Phillips

as long as smith and kubiak are still picking personnel....it doesn't matter.

Wiki shows McNair being 74 next season, so this idiocy shouldn't continue too much longer. Let's hope the next owner is less stubborn and more willing to admit mistakes.

 

Yes, we need to make major changes with defensive players. Get some free agents, draft picks, walk ons, volunteers, anyone really. I'm sick of everyone on the defensive side of the ball. Lets just start over.

 

I recall a game in the 2009 season they showed Bob McNair Sr. on the big screen wishing him a happy bday. I belive he was like 99......hmmmmm

 

Cmon really?? Say what you will about Wade being a pushover and poor HC, but he has had proven success as a DC and is considered a very talented defensive mind

 

Fans need to cancel their season tickets for next year or not renew if this happens. Why are Houston owners (excluding Les) so damn stupid SMH!!!!!!

 

So i just looked up the the 5 stages of grief

Denial - Supposed list of new coaches appears. No way those are actually canidates...

Anger - Bob McNair you penny pinching owner, look past your friendship with Kubiak and give us Cowher!!

Bargaining - Well maybe Kubiak with a good DC isnt all that bad

Depression - Another year with "its on me" Kubiak and the inevitable mid season losing streak

Acceptance - Houston pro football, where mediocrity is ok as long as your a nice guy

 

More like be el cheapo, cause he doesn't want to fire Kubes and still pay whats left on his contract.

 

I am stunned. Just speechless.

 

Haha no amount of Wade Philips can fix the Mountain of FAIL that is Gary Kubiak.

Will Wade Phillips magically give the league's leading rusher more carries in the 2ND HALF?

Will Wade Phillips magically stop running a two minute drill pass-only offense on the first drive of overtime?

Bob McNair deserves the ridicule he is about get from the rest of the owners.

sorry guys, I think its a terrible decision for the franchise and the fan base.

 

Bob McNair doesn't care about black people.....or white people....or Asian people, Mexican people, or really anybody who roots for the Texans.



Personally, I can't wait for the first time this duo looks at each other with their classic confused faces when something goes completely awry. I think the universe will implode from the sheer stupidity on the sideline.

 

Eh . . . he's been the DC over some good defenses, but it's not like he's been a defensive guru where he consistently produces good defenses. His teams have had their ups and down. The 2003 Atlanta defense that he led was the worst in the league that year. It's entirely possible that the defense only marginally improves next year (because it really can't get much worse).

I'm underwhelmed. I'd much rather try to get John Fox, who between his time as a DC for the Giants and HC for the Panthers produced a top 10 defense 9 times. And when his defenses weren't top 10, they were still usually middle of the pack. That's a hell of a lot more consistent year to year than Wade's D's ever were.

But Wade's daddy coached the Oilers and he's a Houston guy and he was the DC in Denver when Kubiak was there. And you know the Texans' philosophy places more importance on personal and hometown connections than finding the best candidate.

And you know that Wade isn't signing a one year deal. Guess what's going to happen when the team fails again next year and Bob finally fires Kubiak? That's right, 2012 Houston Texans Head Coach Wade Phillips.

Absolutely the worst case scenario, and I will officially renounce the tiny bit of remaining interest I have in the Texans. I can't decide whether this is complete and utter stupidity or absolute arrogance on McNair's part. The players literally gave up on Wade in Dallas, and he is coming to fix the Texans????!!! I thought McNair's extension of Kubiak last season was kind of like giving the fans the finger. This is even worse. It is really up to you people who go to Reliant. If you keep going, you deserve what you get. As for me, I won't be watching.

 

OR even better, the Texans "improve" to 8-8 next year and McNair extends Kubiak again because we are moving in the right direction.

 

McNair tried to give Kubiak a 4 year extension after going 9-7. 4 years for being slightly better than mediocre one time in 5 years! Are you ****ing kidding me? If we somehow manage to go 9-7 or 10-6 next year, get a wild card spot and get bounced in the first round, McNair will immediately extend Kubiak through 2015 or '16. Bank on it.
