Offensive TALENT is top 5. Coaching/preparation/Game Management the offense is barely top half.

Defensive front 7 talent is bottom half, secondary is dead last. Coaching/preparation/game management is near worst in the league.

Well, using his original examples, Harbaugh was never a coordinator in the NFL (he went from ST coach to DB coach to head coach), and Morris was a college coordinator before becoming an NFL HC (never was a DC in the NFL).

Out of his 3, only Peyton was established as an NFL coordinator.... so I think my comparison was pretty legit.

That was the one sliver of hope I had once it began to look like they were going to bring Kubiak back: That McNair would use it as an opportunity to truly fix the (broken) organizational structure.

I'm flabbergasted Rick Smith is keeping his job; more so than Kubiak. I think a Wade Phillips-type fixes a lot of issues here. But man, oh man - is their personnel department a joke.

Nick makes a good point, but something in Harbaugh/Morris told the owners/GMs that they could get the job done. And they did.

Well, maybe they need an owner/GM who can correctly evaluate all coaching candidates and make a great hire. Don't have faith that Rick Smith can do that... get somebody in here who has BUILT a team before.

I believe that's only for head coaching candidates.

good for mcnair...having the intestinal fortitude to go against popular opinion on boards like this and stick with gk. no idea if its the right decision, but its better than just going along with the masses and getting rid of the coaching staff which is the easiest and sometimes worst thing to do in the nfl!

Do you realize how remarkably silly this is? Two teams won 13+ games this year; last year it was 3, the year before that 1. The Houston Oilers *never* won more than 12 games in a season. I mean... come on.

The Texans have obviously underachieved - but this is not one of the two or three best teams in football. You're setting your bar WAY too high. A 10-6 reason should never, ever be viewed as a disappointment. That's just insane.

More silliness. They're 6-10 and you can't find 4 definitive SHOULDA won games in his lap where his blunders as a head coach cost them victories. I have no interest in defending Kubiak - but these kind of wild-ass condemnations are irksome. There's a lot to not like about the job Kubiak has done without resorting to unsubstantiated hyperbole.

    Just this year????

Colts on MNF. That's easily on Kubes. Chargers. Abandon the run. Kubes. Broncos game, where's Foster? Kubes. And I'll give Kubes a pass on 3 of these 4: @Titans, Cowboys, Ravens, @Eagles. He gets credit for 1 as a quantitative "his fault" for not having them prepared/not using the running back when game was close.

    That's 4 this year.

As great as an offense as he is supposed to have, how many games did the team get to half time with 2 or more TDs??? That's preperation, game management, and on Kubiak.

WTF. This goes against all actual evidence that we see from actual coaching changes that immediately improve teams all the time. This is one of the most frustrating and stupid arguments, because there's so much evidence out there that is so easy to find.

You know what? I don't think Kubiak is a particularly good coach. A better coach likely navigates those games better. I'll concede the point.

Even if that were true, every year you don't fire Kubiak is a year you tack on to that 2 years.

What's faster? Bringing in a better coach and being good in 2 years? Or giving Kubiak another 2 years, finally getting it through your thick skull he can't get the job done, making a change and have it take another 2 years to get good, 4 years total?

We had a slightly better offense and a much better defense last year and we still managed to piss away games and miss the playoffs. We still played only one half of games. We still came out unprepared most of the time. Game planning and clock management still sucked.

Yes, the defense sucked this year, but I don't know how you can honestly evaluate Kubiak's tenure here and think that anything will change simply by replacing the DC.

You have a 4000 yard passer
You have the NFLs leading rusher
You have arguably the NFLs best WR

    6-10....
    9 years no playoffs

    SOMETHINGS GOTTA GIVE!

When you have a chance to get a hof coach whos a proven winner and has a superbowl ring and KNOWS HIS **** when it comes to defense, you dont stick with whats been keeping you at home during January-February.

You crack me up with comments like this. Your feathery touch when discussing Kubiak's flaws is what's silly. "A better coach likely navigates those games better". LOL! Well duh! Complete blather. But when someone says something negative about Kubiak that doesn't make any sense, you have no trouble blasting them as "wild-a**" and "irksome". Being even-handed definitely isn't your strong suit. However, arguing one side of a debate ad nauseam is something you are very good at. Congrats!

So he think we should keep kubiak just because our offense is doing well, forget about the record and everything, our offense is doing well and we should keep kubiak, wow this guy is either dumb or he is just being cheap and not willing to hire new coach.

But the offense is part of the problem, how many times were we screaming for them to run the stinking ball only to have him call passing plays?

The offense was inconsistent all year, sure they barrelled back in the 2nd half of a lot of games, but why not control the clock with the running game and score more in the first half too?

I just don't think Kubiak's situational play calling is all that good.
