It's like Costanza when he was trying to get fired by the Yankees to go to the Mets. Maybe Gary should have streaked down the middle of Relient Stadium today?

All I know is that it's very strange that McNair said nothing today after the game.

On a side note: I'm not a John McClain fan, but if Kubiak does end up getting canned, that guy's credibility is going to take a VERY bad hit.

Hahaha I was really thinking the same thing. I wanted to photoshop Gary in a bodysuit or something.

I am not saying Kubiak is out. I can just tell you he spoke as a beaten man who thought he might be out of work. I have posted the audio if you would like to hear it. http://www.sports790.com/pages/mattandadam.html

I have zero knowledge of what's going on and have been saying all year long that Bob did not have the stones to make a change. I can tell you that the players told me Kubiak's sat night speech was extremely long and strange. He kept saying "you all" and "you guys" as opposed to the "we" that he normally phrases in his speeches. They said he almost spoke as if he was an outsider. Every player wants him back, but most told me that they would not be stunned if a change was made.
I just can't speak in absolute certainty like some have. I think it's embarrassing to flip flop as often as some reporters have or to flat out report a bull crap lie like Warner did last week.

What credibility did he ever had.... from day ONE of this franchise, he has been all conjecture, and has been flat out wrong on too many occasions.

Reporters should never report conjecture as fact... but that's what McClain does. From Boseli "will be ready by week 4" to the 2006 draft to this year's coachinc carousel... I think the city of Houston would be a better place if he was no longer associated with the Texans.

I think him and Elway have already hatched project Tebow together, and now he just has to let McNair know to let him get out of his contract (without compensation back to Houston).

But if he really hasn't talked to McNair about it, he really has no idea if he'll get canned or not. Maybe he's afraid of the possibility. Maybe he even thinks he deserves it, at least in the sense that very few teams (if any) would bring him back after the 5 years he's had. But that's hardly an indication that McNair is going to fire him.

If you believe him when he says he hasn't talked to McNair about being retained or not, then I think his tone of voice is pretty irrelevant. IMHO, it would only matter if he already knew his fate.

How sad is it that the dude I would hold to the lowest of journalistic standards (no offense, matt, you're my fav radio guy by far... but I don't go to you for hard news, as I'm sure you understand) seems to have the best grip on what it means to be a responsible member of the media.

Matt, you and Wex are a value to this city. He may be smarter than you are and you might be wrong a lot in your arguments and come out looking like a doofus, but dagnabbit I admire your integrity!

No really, you and Wex are both really good at what you do and I for one am thankful that we have you guys around in a city that is mostly full of bad reporters.

Don't feel bad about it, if Mark Berman doesn't say it, I don't believe it either until it happens.

Yep... until they hire Mike Sherman, Dick Jauron, or Wade Phillips as Head Coach.

And guys like Kubiak, Josh McDaniel, and Singletery have had mixed results in their first gigs.

I don't think McNair goes with another first-time head coach... I wouldn't either if a change is made.
