I will literally pop champagne if Wade "What Happened?" Phillips passes on us. He absolutely falls under the Dick Jauron nightmare scenario in my book.

Hell, if McNair refuses to eat Kubiak's contract and is dead set on this ultra-cheapo-band aid move....I want it to fail horribly and get everyone fired. Burn it to the damn ground.

Christ, I couldn't be more upset at drayton2.

You already know the answer: a guy that wants to be HC, isn't getting any calls about being HC, and sees this as an in to get the big seat again.

Well, if Marvin Lewis is indeed out at Cincy (early reports say he is), he would fit the category of a possible HC in waiting as a defensive coordinator for one year.

Its pretty much a no-lose situation for him (or any other DC who wants to be a HC) who comes in here... as long as they do their job well....

A.) If he does well, and the team wins (and Kubiak is kept), he wil be the leading candidate for any other job he wants as a HC.

B.) If he does well, but the team still underachieves, they can get rid of Kubiak and have an immediate proven candidate ready to take over.

or C.) If he does poorly, they can still chuck Kubiak in favor of somebody in-house (like Dallas and Minnesota did this year).

The crazy thing about the Texans this year is that even though Kubiak deserves to be fired... there is not a single other coach on this staff who could even be CONSIDERED as a potential replacement. You dont see that very often on even the most mediocre of teams.

A pretty stupid design.... but to be fair, Kubiak has had some better candidates around prior who all went on to better (or other) jobs.

Sherman, Shannahan. I guess Dennison is around here.

Kubiak said that he hasn't been told that he'll be back yet and that he's meeting with McNair tomorrow.

I don't expect anything different from what we've been hearing, but we can always keep our fingers crossed.

May be nothing, but our buddy Mattj just tweeted this:

@MJ4sports: Whatever happens tomorrow, Gary Kubiak is a stand up guy. Things did not work out in Houston, but he always took the bullets.

@MJ4sports: I'll post audio from Kubes last post game press conference. He inists he does not know his fate. To be honest he sounded dejected.

MJ: I don't pretend to know anything, but I believe Gary when he says he has not been told his fate yet.

Yea, I get that vibe from him. He could be just assuming but McNair not coming out and saying his staying like Mara did with Coughlin kind of makes me wonder.

This is turning into the biggest tease of my life.

I really dont want to even entertain the idea that Kubiak may be fired because I dont want to be let down.

    But PLEASE be true.

I believe Kubiak when he said that McNair had not spoken to him about his or any of his coaches' jobs this season. I don't take that as a vote of no confidence though, and I expect Gary to be back.

Anybody else considering that maybe Gary is ready to move on to Denver... and has already had preliminary conversations with his boy up there?

Maybe he tells McNair that he wants out at this meeting tommorow... even if McNair wants him to stay.

Its a possibility. And if anybody could help Tebow out, it would be Gary.
