Does anyone else think that maybe Bob is keeping Kubiak because of what Johnson said a couple years back after we went 8-8? Johnson said something like "I don't want to play for any other coach". I think it's sinking into Bob's head that he'll lose his best and most marketable players if he fires Kubiak. If that's the case he needs to trade those guys for Asomugah, Cromartie and the likes in order to clear his mind.

Everybody in football right now is staring at the Texans (actually Bob) and wondering why in the hell they haven't fired Kubiak. It's perplexing, we know he should have been fired last season, but some of us forgave, for we were gullible children after a 9-7 season, even though we won nothing. We didn't win anything, nothing other than a stupid morale victory.

Well, there is no morale victory this season, and so, the drinking will continue untill the morale improves.

yeah and you also forgot matt Moore at qb. also you forgot 5-3 in playoffs and a super bowl appearance. those are numbers kubiak would give a left nut to be close enough to even fart in it's general direction.

No, I didnt forget their QB situation...people knew they were very rocky at that position, thus the 7.5 win season predicted by Vegas odds makers.

Again, Fox has had success...but his teams were loaded with talent, specifically on the defensive end. You bring Fox into our current situation with Rick Smith as the GM and we still wont be fielding all pro CBs and DEs...Fox is not the kind of coach that coaches up the talent of the team. He never has.

Defense is more important to winning games than offense...the Panthers teams that made the playoffs had a butt load of talent. Pretty hard not to make the playoffs when you have a top 10 defense along with a great running game. Thats the formula for success...Ravens, Steelers, etc...

Rick Smith remaining as GM pretty much makes any HC change a worthless one unless we are talking Cowher/Gruden.

Andre just signed an extension through 2016 and he's not the type of guy to make a scene and force a trade. This offseason, when he was unhappy about his old contract, he tried holding out. But he realized that wasn't who he was and showed back up to practice the next day. AJ is going to be here for awhile and even McNair isn't dumb enough to make or not make coaching changes based on what a player who's signed through 2016 thinks.

I still can't believe Kubiak is coming back. It's just too surreal to think about.

Ric - i'm trying to pile on here...but i thought you were opposed to the move to a 3-4 defense. Certainly that's what Phillips will bring.

I disagree with your takes on Fox...but I completely agree with this.

Personnel is a HUGE part of the problem. Their inability to land a free agent...missing on too many draft picks...ignorning OVERWHELMING deficiencies...those sorts of things are GENERALLY ascribed to the GM. That we're still not really sure who is in charge of all that (Kubiak or Smith) is part of the problem, as well.

A head coaches with zero experience being a head coach has zero business hiring his own GM. There are principles of organizations in play here that McNair seems to miss entirely.

McNair seems to be trying to do the opposite each go around:

Hire an experienced GM first and give him control and let him hire an experienced HC: hired Casserly first, then hired Capers

    that didn't work, so...

hire a rookie HC and let him choose a rookie GM; hired Kubiak who begat Rick Smith

    this isn't working either lol...

His first method was actually the right way, he just hired the wrong people.

Didn't Yao say similar things earlier in his career? Players will get over it...at the end of the day I'd imagine they care more about the money and winning than the personnel that comes and goes.

It seems rather pointless to get upset about Kubiak staying. By the time the Texans play another game, most of us will have forgotten who Gary Kubiak even is.

Thanks NFL for having a work stoppage at the height of your popularity.

Wade Phillips' sister called in on SR 610 and said she thinks Wade will decline Texans' offer to be DC. For whatever that's worth.

That'd be both funny, and tragic. I think that John McClain would jump off a roof if that happened.

Based on the way that the news has been being reported as of late, you would've thought it was pretty much a done deal.

I think that McNair decided to keep Kubiak because he feels guilty for not allowing them to actively pursue any top-flight free agent talent. I get building through the draft, but if you're not consistently hitting on draft picks then it might be time to spend some money until you get your draft figured out.

    Just my opinion.

I'm sure Bob would do whatever Gary asked him to do, including opening his wallet for some FA's.

Gary & Co. aren't going to admit to failing at player evaluations and drafting by asking McNair to pay a premium. They proved that 100% with Kareem Jackson. Gary will always "go with his kids".

I'm honestly done with this ****.

Barry Warner said it was her, they talked on air for like 5 mins. He told all the listeners it was her because she was calling from Goliad. Thats where the Phillips' ranch is.
