Garnett was never going to be in that franchise's future, so they went the tank option, and what did that get them? Oh, Kevin Love, who they traded OJ Mayo downwards for to free up their bad contracts as well. So then there front two was Love and Jefferson (on a nice contract). The crap with that franchise is all Kahn, who traded away Lawson (lol Flynn), and Jefferson for a piece of **** and some toilet paper.
Geez... how many ways can you skin a cat? People aren't that dumb. Just create one single thread about how you dont agree with the trade, and are going to spread hate on T-Robinson because your butthurt about Patterson. Look at almost every player that has left the Rockets in the past 3 seasons, and tell me which one player's career has really taken off from there.... -Lowry- good performance, but was already rumored to being shopped this Winter -Brooks- stint in China, and now trying to come back to the Rockets for the league minimum. -Dragic- Good player, but not the all-star caliber performance this year Phoenix thought they were getting to put them back on the map. -Scola- now relegated to a bench role. Looks like he's finally heading towards the twilight of his career -Dalembert- Surprised he hasn't been bought out by now. Also fined by the team for conduct. the list goes on..... I really wish the best for Patterson, but lets face it in three years in Houston he never showed the ability to be more than a nice solid rotation undersized big man who can hit the open jump shot, and played good team defense. Most likely a valuable journeyman player throughout his career that contending teams love filling that needed role.
Coaches get judged and paid by the number of wins and playoff appearances - GMs get paid by setting up their team for the future. Sure McHale is pissed. That trade made us worse now and it meant, we have to incorporate new players into our system and that takes time. I think we were a lock to make the playoffs before the trade, and now we are on the bubble. McHale may be gone next season and part of the reason may be him missing the playoffs because of this move... That being said, I am very glad for this move and our player "capspace". PPat wouldn't get us over the hump - now we have half a year to see, what we have in Moti and in T-Rob and then lots of capspace and assets to get us this second and perhaps also third star.
I am still worried that McHale will cost us the playoffs again with terrible rotations. Again, we are right there to make the post-season, but if we go on a losing streak to close the season like last year, it'll be much, much more disappointing. I am not a McHale hater, nor am I a supporter, but I do know that one of his greatest weaknesses is adjustments during crucial times. I give him some credit for benching Lin when TD was playing better or for the emergence of Beverly, but McHale's in-game decisions are often HORRENDOUS. I wasn't a fan of the PatPat part of the trade, and I think it made us weaker for now. D-Mo doesn't have the shot Pat had, yet anyway. I hope McHale recognizes that Garcia is a decent defender and shooter and gives him a chance to help us put some points on the board. He was the only part of the trade I liked, but it looks like he's just a salary dump.
If you've been paying attention, the one thing that happened before the Rockets parted ways with Jeff and Rick is that they both started yapping to the media. My hunch is that Les hates that.
Oh my God someone who knows some NBA history and doesn't just assert their inane opinion as fact... It does exist on CF...
What's ironic is that the Heat totally revamped their roster to get where they are. Only Haslem and Wade remain from the 2006 championship team.
I hope that the results are the same in this case. But I also hope that we bring in a great coach this time that is able to get on board with the GM and makes moves with the same understanding and direction.
Getting really sick of McHale's attitude in interviews. He always seems pissed off and irritated about his job. I understand he's had a tough season at a personal level, but he was already like this before all that happened.
Fair enough. But if he doesn't deliver this time...at least giving this group A CHANCE to be successful, in terms of making the playoffs, that should be it for him. I am almost more excited for a free-agent coach signing in the summer more than a player signing. :/
Until that 2nd star is acquired this is how it's gonna be. McHale can't coach anyway. And he won't be coaching here long. Nothing to see here.
I don't know if Robinson will pan out or not, but I am glad you are not the GM. No personal offense. A conservative approach will only lead to being stuck in the middle.
This is all I'm saying right here! ^^^^^ We have a young team that is good now with a very bright future. McHale doesn't need to be this negative and making comments that throws Morey under the bus. McHale needs to be on board or GTFO board. Our young players need to see unity, strength and positive things within the rockets organization so on the court they could play that much more together in unity, strength and positivity!
I was always a little curious/confused about the McHale hiring. He seemed to be the guy the FO brought in to handle the transition in the interim. A good coach, but not a great one to take a team to championship level. Just my opinion, but his resume didn't scream he could take you there to that level. But none the less a players coach that could help you rebuild. My interpretation was that this is the reason RA was let go and KM was brought in. Anyone know how long KM's contract is for?
