Most intriguing part imo. McHale is saying our fast break can be even more dynamic if Asik/Howard are on the floor because no one else needs to stay and help rebound on defense, the other three players can just take off immediately.
Weight, strength is more important than an inch. Delfino knew were to be and help spread the court allowing the other offensive players time to learn how to play in an open offense.
agree, i didn't read the entire interview so the 1st thing i thought is he left lin out...what was the reason behind that... people need to just stop and treat everyone on the team fairly until proven otherwise.
The Asik thing will be fine. He and his agents should understand that it's also in Rockets best interest to trade him. It's just a matter of how much. The better that Asik plays, the more teams desperate for centers around the league will be interested and willing to offer a good package. And the Rockets will move him then.
Most def Asik should just play his heart out no matter what, but I do understand where he's coming from. He believes he can be great as a starter and being a bench player for the most part type casts him just as some actors can't get a lead role or a certain role because of previous roles. I hope we can keep Asik and he learns to enjoy the role but I wouldn't be mad at him if he keeps pushing for it.
Conversely, the worse he complements Howard the more desperate Morey will be to ship him out. How well he plays will affect the price but not the likelihood he gets traded, unless he does the twin towers so well that the Rockets don't trade him at all. He may be better off playing poorly so that Morey will trade him for less compensation and his new team will be the stronger for it. Given what he says he wants, playing well as a back-up center is probably the worst thing he can do (though there is still his professional integrity and his next contract at stake).
