Ha, sorry. I only provided the link and one quote, because it's one of those unlocked "digital subscriber" posts, you'd normally have to pay for. I figured it was only fair to not quote the whole Q&A and give the Chron/Feigen a few more clicks for sharing it with the non-subscribers. As for the quote in the OP, I figured someone was going to read too much into it regardless, so I thought I might as well address it in the OP. Rational folks who read the whole Q&A will understand why McHale wouldn't/didn't mention Lin again in that particular answer, hence the smiley in the OP. Anyhow, one thing I found interesting: + this Feigen follow-up tweet:

Wouldn't want him chasing 3-pt shooters. Want him in paint. RT @sandersandrew @Jonathan_Feigen what 4-men do you think Dwight could guard?
— Jonathan Feigen (@Jonathan_Feigen) September 25, 2013
Pretty sure most folks thought Dwight would be the one guarding opposing 4s, which I didn't love, because Dwight not only can be lazy closing out to perimeter 4s, he also don't have great perimeter defense fundamentals, whereas Omer is deceptively quick and obviously isn't quite as good as Dwight protecting the rim, so having Omer guard opposing 4's probably is the smarter way to go.
Damn. Tough love. I know Omer's been in Europe (at least in the latter part of summer), but it's a little strange McHale has not talked to him AT ALL all offseason. Still waiting to see how Omer actually feels. Everything has just been rumors so far.
McHale telling Asik to put his big boy pants on. By the way, what's the most feasible way for Howard and Asik "to space each other," as McHale suggests?
I thought McHale gave a professional interview, holding that Irish temper in check better than he will later in the season. But for anyone searching for Lin-troversy the best quote is McHale says Linsanity was an illusion!
So anyone know what Omer is doing actually,I mean we all know about the rest, but I haven't heard anything about him I know that he was in the tournament in slovenia but that's it.
This answer annoys me. This should not be a huge mystery, and shouldn't have been an issue last year, either. Delfino shouldn't have been playing 30 minutes a game. Period. 1) Give all of his minutes to Garcia if you're going to go into lazy short-term win-now mode like you did last year. 2) Give more playing time to the young guys if you actually want them to develop and have a legitimate option at the 4 by the end of the year.
What?! Delfino was great for us last year. I dont know what you expected out of him. He mad alot of clutch shots for us.
So whats that about all the pressure now being on Howard and Harden? No pressure on Lin to perform my butt. He has 3 guys breathing behind him threatening to take his spot. McHale said it to himself. Good luck Lin I hope this forces you to step your game up this year.
Delfino is much bigger than Garcia and capable of playing PFs for extended stretches. Having Delfino at PF helped to develop Lin, Beverley, Harden, and Parsons last season. OKC having a starting big man that isn't capable of dominating Harden inside allowed Garcia to play with Lin, Harden, and Parsons in the playoffs.
"He's a player. His job is to come in and play. I haven't had an opportunity to talk with him about all that, but Daryl (Morey's) job is to try to improve the team. Omer's job is not to wonder how that affects him. MY job is to figure out how they can play together and be effective." Fixed it for him (otherwise McHale will have nothing to do )
