I'm sure he's already said that. However, T-Mac is smart enough to say he will only go to Houston behind closed doors. This helps to maintain his reputation unlike Stevie. This also helps the GM bluff about other trades with Phoenix, Indiana, etc. so he could get Mobley included. I hope Mobley has no hard feelings so we can get him back when he becomes a FA at a reasonable price.
Is it really that big of a frekin deal for Les or Weisbrod to just open their traps and tell us somwthing real. What could that possably hurt
The Magics seems to shop around, still. I believe Houston deal is the best offer they can get, where can you get three starters from a playoff team in the WEST, and with Franchise player on the list? Sometimes the GMs are just fooling themself around.
It it's not for T-Mac, We should dump this Weisbrod long time ago. He want to hold it to get more light on himself; want to fool Magic fans and Show leagure he is not so dumb. Face, Face, face......., stupid face, make this trade hold another a few days.
Agreed! I think it is obvious here that the Magic "holding out" is just a ploy to satisfy the Orlando Media and fan base. Weisbrod doesnt want the Orlando Media or fans to think that Orlando got screwed on the deal. He wants them to think they have been shopping around to get the best deal. Make them think that THEY hold all the cards. Make them think that THEY are making everyone else wait. All the while people are slowly forgetting Francis hissy fit at the beginning of the week and are now focusing on Francis grit and determination and how he likes Orlando now according to Weisbrod. This is basically just one big game and it is getting tiring certainly on the HOUSTON side of things. Heck over the on Orlando RealGM boards I think those fans are getting tired too and have accepted that the trade will happen and just wish it would so everyone can get on with things! God I hope this trade goes down at the beginning of the week. I hope it happens before July 1st. If not we have to wait until July 15th because of the NBA trade moritorium during that time. Hopefully Weisbrod will feel comfortable that he has massaged the media and fans enough by Monday to finally pull the trigger of this thing.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...n26,1,4109376.story?coll=orl-sports-headlines Here is an article from the Orlando Sentinel. I really hope Indiana gets tired and trade Al Harrington to Cleveland for Luke Jackson. I just want someone to teach this Weis Ass a lesson.
please. . don't invoke that ghost this trade was the beginning of the end of the Rocket's run in the playoffs Took our youth solicited the departure of drexler solicited the who pippen fiasco let's hope this trade is NOTHING like the Barkley Trade Rocket River
Yeah, if we didn't do that damn Barkley trade, we could have overpaid Robert Horry to average under 10 ppg. Ya'll do realize Robert Horry has yet to average 10 ppg or more since his second year in the league. Nice role player, but we would be lottery bound if we were leaning on Robert to build a contender. Nice role player. That's it! I'll take that one really fun year in 1996-1997, rather than another 5 years of being the Atlanta Hawks in the mid 90's(i.e. mediocrity). Dare to be great!
Les : Tell these clowns they have until Monday before pulling the deal off the table. Tracy : Tell everyone that Houston is the only place you'll sign. Weisbrod : Quit being a moron and just do the trade instead of entertaining the millions of trade offers you claim you are.
I don't see how extending the process would make Orlando fans happy. Simply say that, due to McGrady's position on resigning, the best return came from Houston. Orlando fans are familiar with this aspect or trade value; it;s how they got Hill and T-Mac in the 1st place. Not saying it's impossible, but I don't see P.R. as the reason for Weisbrod's stalling. Another offer, or the hopes of one seem more likely.
This story only exists because Feigen's editor told him, "Get me something on the MacGrady deal! We've got to have SOMETHING for tomorrow." Even if there isn't anything. Do you realize that if it weren't for Weis and Francis' agent, we wouldn't even know if we were interested in T-Mac? The Rockets have handled this with a little professionalism-- by keeping their mouths shut. Weisbroad seems to like the attention. I figure the Magic are using this time to get their new #1 pick over with the fans and media. The second they make the trade, everyone will be all over what they're giving up, not what they're getting.
The stalling makes him look in control. Just look at how the tone of the Orlando Sentinel articles has shifted from Weisbrod making a mistake--rashly taking the poor deal with Houston because McGrady is leaving--to how now the Magic are in the drivers seat and Weisbrod is meticulously considering every deal on the table. I still think he is also hoping some other team decideds to sell the farm (not negotiating in good faith).
I think you're absolutely right. Count on it, people, TMac is coming for sure. You guys should do what I do, don't make yourself anxious and just relax and enjoy the off season. We got tons of time to wait for this Tmac Deal.
what's sad is that every other team KNOWS he has no power (since T-mac won't re-sign for just any old team) - and the deal is still the same one that ESPN said was one-sided and could result in having everyone penciling the Rockets into the confrerence finals next year
I wonder how much longer Weisbrod thinks he can keep this up. PHO already called their bluff by trading the #7, but they are not completely out. Houston and Indy seem to be waiting patiently, which I'm suprised by. Bird doesn't seem a very patient man, especially when he is dealing with a rookie GM. I hope CD/Les start acting impatient and try to force the trade. IF McGrady will only sign with Houston, then it is a done deal. But whatever it is, the contending teams for T-Mac must start putting pressure on Wisebrod.
I actually think that Magic's management is trying to buy time so to convince TMac to stay. They might think that they can buy time to improve their roster via trade so to convince TMac that they could make the playoff next season. What I'm worrying is even if Tmac does not promise to resign with them next season, they may still keep Tmac in the hope that Magic will make the playoff(which is very likely considering they are in the arguably weakest division) and TMac will then change his mind after that. I would say that Rocket's chances of getting TMac is only 80%.
I agree. I think they are trying to convince T-Mac to stay while at the same time, talking good to Francis so when he still says he wants out they wont look bad. Houston holds they key combined with the fact that T-Mac has stated his desire to want to be here.
T-Mac wanted a veteran instead of Oakfor. You think he is going to stay now that they drafted a high schooler? C'mon. This is about showing who's in control here and Wisebrod is enjoying holding all the cards. It makes the Magic look like they are in charge, which looks good to fans and will probably make the owners feel better too. It also leaves open the tiniest crack for another team to swoop in, but that isn't going to happen. Basically, every team in the league has bailed out because they know McGrady wants to be in Houston. End of story.
Good post, it pretty much wraps up what I was thinking too. I believe you can consider the trade done. TMAC wanted the pick traded for vets, it wasn't. So now he is gone.
I know the NBA is trying to get new owners in New Orleans, seems to me Orlando could use a management shake-up as well. They have no idea what they are doing. This deal should have been done already.
