That's nonsense. If T-Mac has legitimate weaknesses in his game, who cares what Yao's weaknesses are? You see to think that people who criticize T-Mac are doing it to glorify Yao. I criticize T-Mac because there are elements of his game that I think are subpar.

You're essentially arguing that it's okay to jump off a cliff because everybody else does it. T-Mac, then, can play crappy because Yao does it too?

I didnt say there weren't any. The dominant point of view based on number of threads started and number of people chiming in on said threads were that T-Mac cost them game 7 because he settled for jumpers and was lazy in the last half of the 4th quarter. There may well have been some folks griping at Yao for not rebounding, but those threads didnt have longevity. Nor did it get much more play after the initial sting of the series loss wore off. The T-mac hatred still continues to this day. Me personally I dont single out either one of them for the loss. They both made plays to keep the Rockets close, but they both also came up short in the end.

No, not that its OK to jump off a cliff if everyone else does it. But its called fair play. When two players seemingly underperform in a game(Yao not rebounding more and T-Mac not scoring more) it seems ridiculous to blame one for the loss but not the other. Both made great plays in that game, but neither made the final plays to put the team over the top. The TEAM lost the game. Not T-Mac. Not Yao. If T-Mac makes a couple more of his shots, the team wins. If Yao makes a couple more of his shots, the team wins. If Juwan Howard makes a couple more of his shots, the team wins. If the TEAM could get a friggin defensive rebound in the last 2 minutes, the TEAM wins.

And criticize T-mac's deficiencies all you want, but please be fair and balanced. Dont say he chucked jumper after jumper in the 4th quarter late because he only took 2 all quarter, and those were more midway than late. Dont say he was lazy because he didnt force the action against double teams and a defense predicated on stopping his penetration(which they did NOT do early in the 4th and he lead the team from behind to a 5 point lead).

    No you completely misunderstood everything.

The whole point of bringing Yao into the arguement is to justify and support arguements about t-mac not being the main reason for our lost last year. Right now, the blames on t-mac are completely uncalled for and unfair for him. Thats why we're bringing Yao up, but at the same time haters are trying to reject that idea.

And while Yao can be brought into it, the same can be said for Rafer Alston, Luther Head, Juwan Howard, and Shane Battier. Boozer and Okur outrebounded our entire frontcourt combined(starters and bench). In other words, nobody had a game worthy of saying "I could not have done any better to help us win." So to point at T-Mac to say HE was the one that could have done better when they ALL could have done better is just as ludicrous as saying only YAO could have done better when they ALL could have done better.

That is exactly the same reason used by Yao's only fans to diss Francis 5 years ago. Now you Tmac only fans tried to recycle the same lame excuse. The hater here is you. You all only-fans and haters SUCK.

And you misunderstand flamingdts. He isnt hating on Yao. Was flamingdts here 5 years ago when the Yao fans were dissing Francis?? I wasn't. I have no history of this site with Francis on the team. I found it during the 04-05 season.

How is it hating on Yao when evidence that he failed just as much as McGrady is presented in a lucid manner.

Can you read? My stance is clear and simple. It's lame to try to talk up your idol by dissing another Rockets player. Whoever does that sucks, whether he is a Yao only-fan or a Tmac only-fan like you people. Got it?

    1. T-Mac is not my idol. He is a Rocket. I like the Rockets. I like T-Mac.

    2. Yao is a Rocket. I like the Rockets. I like Yao.

    3. I dont like people unfairly criticizing one person and laying all the blame on the failure of a TEAM on his shoulders. Especially when just about every one of his teammates(including Juwan Howard, Luther Head, and even Yao Ming) failed to make plays at the end of the game.

It appears that your stance is to talk bad(or condone talking bad) about one part of an entire TEAM that played poorly. When one tries to defend that one part by saying "they ALL played poorly so why pick on this guy" you seem to think thats dissing one or all of the other parts of the TEAM that played poorly.

There are 12 students in the class. You want to pick on the student that got a C when several others got a D or even some cases an F?? Then you want to blame the C student for not getting the class average up to a B??

In this analogy, both Yao and T-Mac were C students.

Your tactic is to bring in the other players to share the dissing in order to help your player to receive less dissing. Can you see the problem there? Can you try to defend your player without having to draw the other players in to share the dissing? I am all for defending Tmac. But trying to argue that people should not complain about Tmac not attacking the rim enough because Yao had missed a few rebounds is r****ded. Is it really that difficult to see?

I am not saying people should not attack T-Mac for not going to the basket because Yao missed some rebounds.

To overall say that the loss is on T-Mac while glossing over other players deficiencies is what I was getting at.

The reason T-Mac didnt attack the rack more the last half of game 7 was because Utah was predicated upon stopping that. After T-mac got the bucket and the foul midway thru the 4th, they changed up their defense. The Jazz were playing headup on everyone. So once they started doubling and playing T-Mac for the drive it opened up everyone else.

Yao was single covered, the Jazz were in the penalty, and Yao is a 85% FT shooter. Sounds like a plan to use their defense on T-Mac against them by going to Yao. If a team cheats(overplays) and tries to take something away, you have to beat them elsewhere. Its not T-Mac's fault the Jazz weren't going to let him drive.

If you are playing football and the other team puts 9 in the box saying "you will not run the ball" you can do 2 things. You can still try to run, more than likely resulting in minimal gains and maybe even losses. Or you can fake the run, protect your QB, and throw it deep and make the defense pay for overplaying the run so much.

Lets bring it from the top

The Opening Post is dissing T-mac for talking about the playoffs and how its not on him anymore. Perfectly Logical. And then many posters in this thread have replied that he should STFU you because he clearly lost us the game 7.

Now me and Bucman's point is that it clearly wasn't all Mcgrady's fault. It was practically the entire team, its amplified because Yao had to mark the second best player on the Utah team and we couldn't get any stops.

Quite frankly, Im not even bagging Yao out, we all know how we lost game 7 and its definetely all T-macs fault. Go ahead, read the beginning of the thread. The amount of hate sent out to Tracy Mcgrady for saying "its on me" and then crucifying his game 7 is stupid. IF anything its like how other posters said its on Mcgrady for letting it get to 7 games.

How many times have people killed Tracy Mcgrady because of Game 7 last year. THIS YEAR ALONE? Game 7 clearly EVERYONE didn't do something right. The original topic wasn't even about Tracy Mcgrady not driving to the rim!!! It was about him saying things. Following your logic we shouldn't bring Game 7 in last year and just quite frankly tell him to STFU which he should

    last time i checked
both Bucman and me have called out every player on the team for sucking in game 7. We also have clearly said that T-mac did not do jack all in game 7 when the game was on the line.

so realli I don't see how we are holding T-mac's jock strap here

First of all, calm your ass down. In no way did I even say Yao sucked. Can you at least read what Bbaji or Bucman wrote before you counter-argue?

My point is simple, I do not hate Yao, I do not love Mcgrady. In no way was I dissing Yao, and in no way was I loving Mcgrady. My point is, I find it unfair and uncalled for to drop all the blame on T-mac, when the entire rocket team failed to show up last year.

I am not saying Yao sucked or it was all his fault. I love Yao. But I am saying its completely unfair for T-mac to take all the blame despite the fact that he said "Its on me".

Tell me, how do we counter-argue game 7 without stating the flaws of other players. We can't argue by saying T-mac did his part. We have to say "T-mac did his part, but the others didn't". You get it? Its not about blaming, its about stating facts.

Its playoff time anyways, I love the rockets and I'm going to support them in the playoffs. I know they'll show up and do well no matter what unlike last year. longhornchampno, I don't care what you think, but I'm not a hater but only supporting one of the rockets most important player. You will need t-mac in the playoffs, I assure you that.

The rockets fans should unite and drop the hate threads, like this one.
