too bad your American government is too interested in creating new terrorist, and protecting their oil interest, in the mess that is Iraq… to give a damn about Countries like Myanmar(Burma) and the Sudan… lets not forget Rwanda where the western Nations stood by and let 10000 people die a day for 80 days…and stood by and watched… Its good that Tmac has woken up and realized there is more than just what is outside your front door… or what your government tells you...
Did you realize this is the GARM and the thread is about Tracy or did you put your brain on the desk when posting this? Put your political stuff in D&D and don't derail GARM threads.
you seem a little defensive and I dont know why. I am not attacking mcgrady here. Whats wrong with me thinking that, as hes grown, hes realized that there are things bigger than basketball? Also, let me empahsize that Im a huge t-mac fan, almost to a fault. However, without that bias, I do think that he has lacked motivation or become complacent, at times. You may have a different take on it and thats cool. Some other members on this board, have pointed out that this event may make him even more motivated on the court, which I did not intially think of, but agree could also be a possibility. But hey, that's the whole point of the board right? People bring up good points. Its a board for discussion, no one is attacking anyone here. cheers,
What has your gov ever done for others? Better yet, don't bother. Since you brought in this pile of **** to the GARM...welcome to my **** list. err....ignore.
wow, doesn't this T-Mac sound so different than the one that was too scared to play the All-Star game in New Orleans?
Astockmarketgod is thinking of sex like this, thats why he isn't thinking straight. HOW DARE YOU TO TALK TRASH ABOUT THE UNITED STATES. You deserve a ban for that. But here is a pic of what I think u have in mind. <p style="font-size:11px;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><a href="http://www.pyzam.com/funnypictures/details/117"><img src="http://content.pyzam.com/funnypics/sports/sp8.jpg" alt="Hole in One" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.pyzam.com/funnypictures">Get Funny Pictures</a> at pYzam.com<br /></p>
Guys, when would there always be someone wants to escalate a simple discussion on certain issue into a political debate by dissing others government??!!! It has nothing to do with the topic here, so CUT IT OUT! As for T-mac, I think this whole thing is so much overrated for now before he has ever done anything. I totally respect him going to Darfur and I hope it is good for his soul as a NBA superstar, I can not imagine how he could deal with the reality in the world as someone never lived a regular life, not even as regular as just a ordinary American, he was a superstar since right out of the high school.
You are right about him being privileged now. Except McGrady has never been an ordinary American going from a poor childhood and seeing a friend killed to becoming a millionaire. I would say that is not very normal for the majority of Americans. McGrady has been through tough times and tragedies but I am sure none of that compares to Darfur as I think you are trying to explain. Let's not pretend McGrady has had it easy his whole life though.
I did not say his whole life is a easy throughout, none of us has life like that as long as we are all breathing. But your point is well taken, and you have to admit that Tracy is much more blessed person than most of us. I do think the sad events in his life is overrated by the media although they would be heart wrenching for any given person.
Umm... free speech? The Bill of Rights is one of the greatest things about this country. Why is it so wrong to criticize our government's lack of action during genocidal events in Africa? I think the world would be a better place if George Bush took a couple of days off to live among Darfuri refugees like T-Mac did.
Duh, it isn't wrong to criticize our government but this is the GARM and politics belong in D&D. Feel free to go there and start up a thread on the subject if you like. This forum is strictly Rockets talk.
This is Great. As far as basketball, remember Hakeem actually became a better player when he began to really explore his religion. maybe something like this will put things into perspective and it actually may make him a better player because he will be relaxed realizing there are more important things in the world.
Tracy, Thank you for doing what few other people in your situation have ever done. Much respect. For that matter, I think almost everyone that reads this thread probably lives a life that makes it possible for them to at least once in their lives visit an area of tragedy/poverty/oppression in the world... after all, this is where Reality is unveiled and wisdom is bestowed.
Yes! First of all, I get flack for being a homer about the Rockets with some people, and I have a problem with that anyway (cause come on, who do you think plays on TV more, the Rockets or the Lakers? F that). But the fact that not only are they a really good team, capable of making a run at the rings, but I actually LIKE these players as people.
TMac's had a lot of rough things happen in his life -- when you put it all together he's had to deal with as much tragedy as Eddie Griffin did. This is great that TMac is channeling his pains into helping other people. It might be temping to associate this sensitivity with that trite criticism of TMac -- that he doesn't have enough of a killer instinct. Well, all I can say to that is, Eddie Griffin had a killer instinct.
