Almost as much as before. Adelman has reverted to base NBA sets like pick and rolls, isos, and post ups the last two games. He's also still jacking up the treys in transition.
again, answer me how many pick and rolls tmac have ran this year compared to last yr? that play alone restricted what tmac can do in SO MANY WAYS. so answer me that question. that's all we need to know. again, only YOU are saying this. adelman is saying it's the offense. tmac is saying it's the offense. but apparently you seem to know everything that is just based on stats. tell me how many dunks tmac had last yr? HOW MANY? how many fastbreak he had last yr per game? he already had 4 dunks through 3 games. he didn't have on through 2 freakin' months last yr.
oh my goodness. tmac has ALWAYS jacked up those treys. from orlando to now. but last yr, JVG ran pick and rolls like 80% of the games. through the first 3 games, adelman has only ran the pick and roll primarily in the 4th quarter when he wants to use old sets b/c we're still learning the offense. tmac is a jumpshooter primarily. he has shot 80% jumpers from orlando to now. but unlike under JVG, he gets more movement in this offense. he's not a standstill stagnant player that just runs the pick and roll and the offense rolls from there. like i said, 4 dunks in 3 games. nuff said.
Did Adelman and McGrady say that the offense caused McGrady to shoot 8/23 the last game? No? All sort of fluff comes out when someone plays well and we win. Even Yao said nice things about the offense in the AP summaries, but behind the scenes you know he's fuming and telling Adelman to get him the ball more in the low post. What if McGrady shoots poorly tonight? Is it still on the offense, or is it just "a bad night"?
did u watch the blazers game? when did tmac start missing? when did yao start missin? when did the entire team start missing? THE 2ND HALF. how did tmac do in the first half? 7-14 => 50%. how did the entire team do in the first half in comparison to the 2nd half? you're going to base it on ONE HALF where THE ENTIRE TEAM SUCKED? james sucked in the 2nd half shooting. tmac sucked. yao sucked. bonzi sucked. and we were up by 20. tmac tends to jack up jumpers A TON when we're up. that's not indicative of how we're going to play. yao put up a bunch of pathetic shots in the 2nd half too. nice going to choose ONE HALF and blame it that he's back to sucking at shooting.
He has been in pick and rolls, but it is has been in better positions. Just check out the Jazz game...when he tursn on the pick and roll he is 1ft closer to the rim, thus the defense has less time to collapse, which has made him much more effective. Not only has it opened up driving lanes, but opened up his jumpshot as well. Exactly, he has had iso's and postups...very few of each last season, especially postups (only in the Mavs game where he dropped 45 was he consistently put in a postup position). As for iso's, once again, he has been getting them 18ft out on the wing, with much better angles for driving and jumpshots (statistically he shoots much better from the sides of the basket as opposed to straightaway, which is what he mostly got when he iso'd last year). Ok, he jacks up 3's in transition...so does Kobe, so does VC, so does Redd, so does Arenas (disgustingly moreso than T-Mac)...explosive perimeter scorers do that. When he get shot, those transition 3's take the heart right out of an opponent and make T-Mac the 2nd most dangerous scorer in the league.
Did he not shoot 8/23 from the field? So you're writing off a bad game, or say a "bad half". Then in the second half against Utah, Yao had 8 points 7 rebounds 1 assist 2 steals 5 blocks. Not a great half but a decent half. So he had a bad half, the first half. You have repeatedly used it as a sledgehammer against him. Hypocrisy much?
^ he just nitpicks at tmac and gives no credit to adelman. i'll post up the youtube version of R2K's highlights and show him that 4 of tmac's first 5 touches result IN THE PAINT. THEN he starts his jumper b/c he thinks he's in a rhythm. he's still going to take jumpers. but he now starts out his first few touches going ot the rim. the same case w/ utah. the first play => a layup. it's still loading on youtube so you have to wait. tmac ain't dwade man. he aint gonna suddenly go 70% in the paint. the difference, he STARTS game getting touches in the paint for easy buckets. THEN he shoots jumpers.
but the 2nd half v. portland, THE ENTIRE TEAM sucked. you're not getting that. it's the ENTIRE TEAM. yao shot 2-9 in the 2nd half. tmac shot 1-9. that's why i'm saying it's not indicative o how tmac is going to play. the entire team cruised. we went from shooting 50% in the first half to 38% overall for the game. and here's the youtube version. check where he touches the ball in the irst 5 times he tried to shoot. 4 of them are in the paint including a fastbreak. THEN he resorted to jumpers. (PS - notice where tmac runs the pick and roll if he does - the wing, not the middle of the floor where he can't turn the corner as easily)
Then why are still 80% of his shots not inside shots a.k.a layups or dunks? This is exactly the same ratio as last year. If you're so intent on using one game as examples... then think about the last time we beat Dallas. You may remember, this was a year ago yesterday. We trounced Dallas by 30 in our home opener last year. Yao dominated, scoring 36 points on 12/16 shooting and 12/12 from the line. Wonder what McGrady got? 8 points on 4/11 shooting.
For the record, I don't hate McGrady. But I realized that it was very uncomfortable being on the defensive all the time, and the McGrady fans seemed to be bashing on Yao with impunity. So why not go on the offensive and hit them back where it hurts?
oh my goodness, u just don't get it do u. check the stats when tmac was in orlando? he shot 77-78% jumpers too. but that tmac got to the line 8-9 times a game despite taking 77-78% jumpers. it's just the positions he's in. it's just how aggressive he is. it's how much he's freed up from the double teams. ok, bring up the tmac that came into camp 20 lbs overweight and still fearing of his back. yea, that's the image u like to think o tmac right? the guy that plays scared. ok, that's the real TMAC to you. again dawg, don't compare that tmac to this tmac. that tmac WOULD NEVER attempt that dunk in utah. he was chicken. he was afraid of another back spasm. but hey, if that's how u think of tmac (the chicken/scared of his back/inconsistent shooting), go ahead.
i criticized yao. i don't deny that. but i didn't criticize him b/c he didn't score. EVERY player struggles sometimes. everybody struggles w/ their shots. i don't care if yao struggles w/ his shot at times. i didn't criticize him v. portland when he only shot 8-17 (another sub 50%). i didn't b/c he got good position in that game closer to the basket. he attacked his defender. what i didn't like from yao v. utah was not the missed shots, but the fact that he was ALWAYS outside the paint or very near the high post when he tried to post up. he let okur push him out that far and didn't fight back but resorted to fallaways (JUST LIKE IN THE PLAYOFFS). that's what i don't like. you're 7'6, 300+ lbs, get great position and dominate. i don't want my center to shoot fallaways from 12-13 ft from the bucket. that's what i didn't like.
wow that we want steve chant sounded really awesome. if only we could do that against the opponent.....something jeering the other team
