ummm... Penny Hardaway was a solid contributor in the Playoffs for the Knicks this year.. he was the only one hitting jumpers for them in the clutch.. I think he still has a good 4 or 5 years left of solid play left in him. He is a smart player. Good shooter and makes the right passes.

Grant Hill.. I HOPE he can come back and be descent this year.. I think he can do it.. the man has alot of drive, i would love to see him succeed.

McDyess.. Lets see what happens with him, his injury wasnt anywhere near career ending so I think he can come back with some solid D, rebounding, and hitting the open jumper. I always loved his game.

MoT played well for us this season, coming off the bench and giving us a solid 11ppg. However, other teams just look at MoT as an overpaid, no-defense, no-rebounding, PF. Which no team wants a part of.

if the last 3 years are any indication, we already know what will happen. If the guy could stay healthy i'd love to pick him up, i'm just not one willing to take chances on guys who the odds are against.

"Done" is a word that gets thrown around way too easily. You realize we're not going to need 20/10 from any of the "done" players we've been talking about.

McDyess could easily be a servicable player. Hill last year had his most comprehensive surgery and unless you're an orthapedic surgeon, you don't know any better than me that he can't play. All I do know is when he does play, he's still capable of big numbers.

Well, I think JL is just in the thinking that Rox need a PF more then anything...this week he says Mcdyess, the week b4 he says no on T-Mac but get the 1st pick to get Okafur, and several weeks b4 all that he says SF and/or change for Brand....

I think thats where his head is...

IMO, Mcdyess would make a nice addition, if we were to trade Cato and Mo away...of course Mcdyess would have to be cheap and there has to be another pf addition... Mcdyess should only be the bonus, not the prize of the Free Agencies sweepstakes.

You know his knee isn't better, not back to NBA standards?

Stromile Swift would be a nice addition.
McDyess would be a big gamble.

While McDyess isn't anywhere near the top of my wish list at the PF position, I do think he's a very logical option. Personally, I think he should get signed to the league minimum or near it, possibly with some sort of incentive clauses that make it possible for him to make more money if he stays healthy and contributes? I'm not sure that I even think he's worth the gamble at the MLE at this point though. Also, this has been mentioned as a possibility on ESPN insider.

    http://insider.espn.go.com/insider/rumorcentral?sport=nba

they basically just quote the article Feigan wrote verbatim but i found it interesting they have the Rockets listed as the sole team interested in McDyess.

another interesting note on that page is this:

    Brent Barry- Teams interested?

    Sonics
    Nets
    Nuggets
    Cavs
    Warriors

and they claim he's turned down a 3 year 18 million dollar deal because he's looking for a 4 year deal.

Mo Taylor won't accept 20 minutes a game eh? Tell ya what.. You show me a year when he has accepted 30 minutes a game since he has been in Houston. Then say who the brick wall is Sane. lol

This is how this works out. After the team trades Cato,Mobley and Francis for Grant Hill and McGrady, the team either leaves Taylor unprotected or pays Charlotte the 3m to take Taylor. Then use the 4.5m to sign Mcdyess.

People may bash me for this one, but i wouldn't be opposed to bringing back Griffin either. He's still very young and allowing him to come off the bench behind McDyess and Breifly spell Ming would give hime enough minutes to be content.

As long as it's cheap the Rockets would be CRAZY not to go after McDyess or at least seriously look into it.

Define cheap. I wouldn't give him more than $5 million over 2 years.

Good. I wouldn't spend more than that for a injury-prone gimp like McDyess, who probably won't play more than 30 games a year.

I won't bash you. I hope we resign the kid too. He wants to play ball, and I'd hate to see him mature in a different uniform and haunt us for years. He still has tons of potential and if he had stayed in school he would only be going into his rookie season right now.

I hope we sign him too! I'm a staunch supporter of Griffin, which on many levels does indeed make me an idiot.

I'll be honest that I'm worried though, thinking a bit forward (I'm a visionary) to the impact to the team; when Gundy yells "SHOOT!" at Griffin in practice, do you think all the other Rockets will duck?

Griffin will draw a lot of interest. I am all for giving him a 2nd chance but if it comes down to a bidding war, we've already wasted so much on him already that paying him millions to see him get arrested and hate basketball again would utterly make me sick. We need more of a sure thing at PF. I realize I am kinda contridicting myself here by saying we need a sure thing since I want us to get McDyess, but honestly there aren't any sure things out there that we can afford.

McDyess, Griffin.....those guys are all gambles

Sheed, K-Mart, Camby, Dampier....we cannot afford

Okur, Swift....still a gamble since we would be signing them based on potential (ex. Taylor)

Which leaves Etan Thomas. Thomas is a JVG style player and could potentially be a perfect fit in our system. However, all indications are Washington is high on him so we would have to sink some cash into him, if he even leaves there at all.

So as far as i'm concerned we should take a serious look at Thomas. Keep an eye on the interest teams are showing in Griffin and what his asking price is. And if all else fails, go with the guy who WANTS to play for us--McDyess. Hell, maybe we can even get McDyess to sign for the vet. minimum.
